One Ok Rock actually started when they were teens. 16-17yrs old. Back then, the vocalist was into controversy because he's the son of 2 famous enka singers and that that he was a part of a jpop group just coz his parents are famous. People said that he is talentless and sometimes threw bottles at him. He left his home, quit jpop and school, got part time jobs, his parents got divorced and others said he was partly to blame. He quit school and left home to pursue being in a band that his parents disapproved of. They trained at 1am (hence the name One o'clock /one ok rock) because the studio was cheap at 1am.

This one is a sort of a guilty pleasure for me. It's cheezy but wonderful. I love this performance and their message. I'm a bit older but I feel those young adults.

The song was part of a celebration in 2018 for the new Japanese law that lowered the age of voting from 21 to 18. One Ok Rock was asked to do something for this so they held a competition where 1000 (or was it 3000?) artists who were turning 18 that year were asked to send in their work and out of the many thousands who applied these new adults were asked to join them to help record this video!

I am just freaaking grateful that you grant our request! So I'm kinda being greedy but there's this other song I want to request for reaction again. It's called "Nobody's Home". Taka(vocalist) made this song as an apology to his parents. You see, his path to being this rock star isn't that easy. He had to leave his home at the time where his parents are in the middle of having a divorce, because his parents are against about his dream and passion--music. Why? Its because his parents are both famous Enka singers(an old style of singing), and they both know how hard it is to survive in the industry. But like what Taka said in this video, he values being true to himself. That's why he left. This song tackled the day he left, his apology for leaving them but also how he wanted his dream so bad. Here is the drive link of the vid. This is live from their Special concert in Nagisaen that I personally subbed since you can't really find a live version with english subs here in youtube. drive.google.com/file/d/1LY0zLQeoXkRr9g0lhdaeK7Zg49HOyawI/view?usp=sharing

You seem a bit mistaken. 1) legal adult age in Japan was 20. 2) they changed that to 18, with many people having different opinions about that. Are they children or adults? 3) they held a festival and invited One Ok Rock to perform with 18yo people. 4) One Ok Rock especially created a song and asked all 18yo to show them their passion. 5) 18y.olds started sending videos and 1000 best throughout the country got selected. 6) they then got special teachers and had few months to practice this song. 7) they finally came together to one place and performed the song with One Ok Rock.

To know Taka’s background better, you will find it in his Mother. Mori Masako. She is a famous ENKA singer. That is where Taka got his emotional singing from. Listen to Mori Masako sing her songs and you will make the connection between the two. Mori Masako Sings some of the most emotional songs you ever heard. Mori Masako has two concerts in particular that Demonstrates this. Watch both concerts to the very end of the videos. Both concerts are in 1986 at the NHK theatre in Tokyo. They are 2 months apart. The last concert is Mori’s final goodbye concert. At 28 years old Mori gets married and retired for 20 years to raise a family. Mori has 3 Son’s. Two of her Son’s have their own bands. The other is the lead singer in his band “My Last Story”
