Yes, all our ancestors originated in Africa. Some stayed in Africa, some left Africa. I am a middle-aged white man who grew up in the South. Even then, I always found it peculiar when black people were referred to as "colored" and European Americans as "white." That would imply that "white" was some sort of original color and anything that wasn't white was colored. But isn't white a color? And "white" is not even a skin tone. If anything, most of us "white" folks should be called "light pinks."

you have 2 parents, 4 grandparents, 8 great-grandparents, 24 GG grandparents, 96 GGG Grandparents, 384 GGGG Grandparents, 1536 GGGGG Grandparents, and that is going back only about 200+ years. Though it is we all have an ancestor from Africa from the beginning of time. I don't think DNA USA is talking about that. When they are referring to DNA USA (the USA melting pot) He literally means what happened when people came unto this soil and the intermixing there after. For example, caucasians from the south had African intermixing they were not aware of not long too ago. hmmm probably during and after the time of slavery. African Americans are made aware of their European roots because it was out in the open. HOWEVER, it is a well known fact of history that during the Jim Crow era... many black American's that could pass for white did just that. They left their town and families and moved somewhere where no one knew them and lived like white people, married white people, had children and hoped that their secret did not get out. We are talking about thousands of African American's just falling off the radar and assimilating into white society in order to live a better life, free of racism and be offered opportunity because they could visibly get around the one drop rule which would have hindered them. It seemed always had black friends I treated them like family and they me. See in the military our parents may equal money one small Germantown we lived in, The man that made the most money what is a black man he was a three-star general I believe. See when your parents make equal money it takes the hatred out of the neighborhood. Military housing in Germany was fun fun fun we all got along I had a great childhood. Yes I saw minut racism but very very little most of the racism came from the kids that just moved from the states that did not grow up in military housing. When we move back to the states I was in seventh grade and went to school in a non-military neighborhood. You could call this neighborhood projects in San Francisco there I seen a lot of hatred that I wasn’t used to it kind of shocked me then I moved to a small town in central California somewhat of a cow town. I seen a lot of hatred in this town too. But I still remember my childhood and how life should be. I’m married now to a beautiful woman of European and native bloodlines. I have two grown boys they both have Indian cards I am so proud of them. I raise them to I have no racism my oldest son gave me a grandson. My grandson is of mixed race. His mother is Mexican or native I should say and father like me . He’s the most beautiful grandson I could ever have hoped for. I think all races have special qualities that I see. Please stop picking on each other it sickens me. War and killing has been a part of humanity over every race throughout history don’t blame the killing on just one race it’s still happening today throughout the world. Just teach your children Love and not hate please.

You get the test done, and it looks back to when you had 32-64 ancestors and tries to locate them by these markers (there are thousands of markers, and the companies are trying to find the ones that are most predictable. Jews count because they were a race to start with, and then were sequestered by their religious beliefs and the rabid religions of the last 2000 years in two groups: Askenazi and Sephardi; Indians were largely migratory and intermixed too much to nail down to tribes, yet. Hispanic, as you note, was a mixture in the Americas and thus not measurable, but , but in Europe they were the Iberians, in NA they are American Indians, with some black as well. The first such testing ten years ago had but three categories: European, Africa and American Indian. They're getting better at it, now sensing 20 different groups, but there is yet a long way to go. They guarantee but a 50% accuracy at the moment. Marketing pressures don't help. Some companies claim to be able to locate your tribe in Africa; I'd look into that before I trusted it.

I read Sykes' book a couple of years ago, The Seven Daughters Of Eve. It was one of the most truly insightful & masterful scholarly work I've ever read. Using the then, fairly new science of DNA tracing, he showed how much we are really all just one big family genetically, & how meaningless the contrivance of "race" truly is.

I have met biracials that look 100% white or 100% black...cranial features is not perfect for judging someones genes. I never said white or black genes could cancel the other out, thats ridiculous.
