I've never done a trip with others - sounds fun, especially the social bit and also as mentioned I imagine you up your game. New places of new memories will deliver I reckon...I also imagine a trip with you guys would be a hoot 🍻 Vision?!! Sounds a bigger hoot 😉

I've come to realize that this is the process. We do not take pictures, rather we are taken and then we make an image that represents what we have been taken by. Glad that resonates. And we appreciate your comments and that you've chosen to follow us!

@@thecoleandjohnshow7236 I tune in for the sanity injection as you know! My own experience, and it's just my own experience and doesn't mean it's the BEST experience, is that the element of surprise, or awe or just being stunned by what is appearing before your eyes is without "seeking" it, it just appeared is so much the POINT for me, that I am so struck by the magic of the world, or the idiosyncratic things that people do, of how incredible light can look on the most ordinary scenes or objects......... this collection that I have accumulated of these moments captured is so precious and keeps me awake to what is around me all the time. And to your point, both of you, I don't really care what other people's eyes think of my work. Not really. It doesn't diminish it in the least! I love revisiting those moments in the photos. I'd dare say sacred! And this has been a wonderful gift to realize that these are moments that are completely unique and were gifted to me and I then gift to others if they care to look.

I haven’t done any workshops, because if I’m spending that much money, I’d rather set my own agenda and do my own thing, but I’m really interested in the vision-based workshop idea, because it’s not just “go to a place I can go more flexibly and more cheaply.”

You've heard the term soulmate? Well, there ought to be a term like soulfriend. Cole would be my soulfriend. I'm not a morning person either. Don't feel left out, John, we'd be great friends too! That Oregon trip sounds like a good one. I've never been to Oregon but it's high on my list, especially the coast. I'd probably even get up early if it meant I could trek through the woods towards a rocky coastline. Coffee would certainly be a requirement. If I came home with some good photographs that would be a bonus as being out in nature is where it's at for me. The camera just gives me a good excuse to go trekking off somewhere. ;-) And yeah, I'd be the one who'd probably get lost because of my tendency to wander off. I've never been on a proper photography trip but I know I would enjoy talking with fellow participants over dinner. I used to be involved with a local photography club and we went out a couple times. We went somewhere to photograph something - I can't even remember what it was because while everybody else had their cameras pointed at whatever the thing was, I was fascinated by and photographing the patterns in the dirt in the opposite direction.

I can relate to feeling stress over getting some good shots while on a workshop. I recently returned from an architectural workshop and had been going through processing images over the last 2 weeks. I finally feel like I got one photo just a couple of days ago that I am happy with. I also think as you improve your photography skills, you have higher expectations.

One of the first workshops I ran Barb was there. I was convinced I was doing a horrible job because she was always off by herself. I likely drove her crazy because I kept asking if she was okay. Finally I realized that’s what she likes! Then I left her alone and all was well. Thank you both!

Athletes warm up before a game so as a photographer I go with the group to grab a shot to put it in the bag, that is my warm-up, and then I go and look for something different after my creative juices start to flow.
