We are back!... with a short one..._ Mount Mac E04

I currently use a MacBook Pro 16in M1 Max 32go of unified memory. I'm using Parallel desktop Pro edition so I can allocate 24go of unified memory to Windows 11. Paradox Mods in the build. Hey Mack, how would you say your Mac is performing when population is getting bigger? I’m considering getting a m3 pro 36gb, hopefully not needing a max model. What do you think?

Hey Monkeyfish, I'm going to be honest with you, the first thing I would do, is wait a month or 2, they are about to announce the M4 Macs, that would bring down price for the M3 lineup, or maybe the M4 lineup will make more sense to you. To answer your question, out of the 36gb, you will only be able to use 26/28 for parallel. The game will definitely be playable, but what are the levels of graphics you want to play with. Now concerning your concern about the City size, I definitely saw a drop in perf as the population grew. Mount Mac is still smooth, by my previous one, Mac Island was very slow, not really enjoyable anymore, I did a live play in one of the last episode if you want to check that out for yourself. Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you

@@MackPlaysOnMac hi there, merci for your answer! Yes, actually I’m waiting for the m4 pro or max. I am trying to see whether I can get away with an m4 pro instead of the m4 max. I think medium graphics or so is good enough. Low isn’t great as you showed in your video. On my M1 Pro I played with parallels cities skyline 1 with a city above 100k I think, which became slow. I do wish to slowly build a larger city. It seems like only a max chip would easily support this, seems like the pro chip is just not enough. If you would suggest on medium setting and a city reaching 100k to max 150k, what config would be best?

Honestly, I would prioritize you Ram, get as much as you can if you are opting for Pro, I looked at the different configs, I would have tell you get the binned max with 48go, but you can't do that, you new the full Max for 48go. That's an extra $700. Though call I know, that's the one I would go for. Now hopefully when they release the M4 pro and Max, the structure will be different. Let's hope

@@MackPlaysOnMac so basically you say that more ram is better for cs2? How much would you feel comfortable? Also is the ram mainly for vram/gpu?

Yes, right now, my game settings are limited by my Ram available, remember also that the M chips are sharing their ram for both CPU and GPU (if I'm not mistaken). My self when upgrading, I will be looking into 48go, whether it will be achievable with a pro or a Max is still TBD. I'm actually considering dropping the MacBook Pro for a new mini pro or Studio, depending on their pricing and specs. I can't wait for the event. For now, let's be patient
