However, the fact that they turn my families lives upside down so that the process is the punishment does worry me greatly. Bank access. Savings access. All your accounts like music, books, photos. How many people have a full plan to recover from a total loss of electronic access? I've tried to get my family to take it seriously, and to at least have a spare device at a friends house, but they all laugh at me. A friend got arrested on suspicion of something last year. They took his computer, and did not give it back for six months. He was released the next day and considered uninvolved. That's if you aren't charged. You may never get your stuff, or your families stuff, back if they take it with some charge following. So I consider myself suitably intimidated. We never had free speech in the first place, they just didn't care what we said, which is not the same thing. Think of Tommy Robinson. Plenty of others over the years. If they notice you, they can ruin you. Unless you have a great deal of money to go to court with great defence. I don't intend to go into debt myself. Not worth it.
