Fun and affordable: buy disposable cameras in bulk at a discount, give one to each guest and then collect them at the end of the night. It encourages guests to take photos instead of paying for a photographer, but it keeps them off the phones in the process.

My cousin did something similar at her wedding reception, they put half-a-dozen disposable cameras on each table and asked the guests to make use that they all got used. They also asked several of us who they knew were into photography to bring our own camera to take photos. Then after they returned form their honeymoon, they spent several weeks going through all the photos to pick those that they wanted in their wedding album. I have also taken the part of "official" photographer at the weddings of both my brothers.

My daughter got married in a state park (free) and had a friend do hair and makeup. A friend who is a photographer gave them a discount. And, the food was from wal! A friend made the cake. An inexpensive wedding doesn't have to be terrible. The setting was as beautiful as the ceremony! My daughter's gown was a blush colored grecian style bridesmaid dress. She was so beautiful! The money her dad would have spent became honeymoon money! Congratulations on narrowing down the date!

@@Alexis_blake00 for my cousins wedding as my gift to him and his bride who I love to pieces I got ordained and did the ceremony and took pictures of the bridal party before the ceremony because I took my associates in photography. Then for the actual ceremony we set a camera up on a tripod to video the ceremony and the guests had disposable cameras to take pictures so the couple could see what parts the guests thought were the most special. Same with receptions I took some pictures(first dance, groom with daughter and bride with son dance) but all the guests had disposable cameras with extras on tables for when they used all the film and there was a camera in the corner with a little rope set up around it(so no one would accidentally block the view of the camera) to record video on wide angle and the groom's mother checked it and changed the sd/memory card(if needed) every 1.5 hours or so(their reception was 7 hours long). There was a table set up for gifts just in case and on the end of that table a basket to put their disposable cameras once they used all the film in them and a basket on a podium next to the exit so guests wouldn't forget to drop their cameras on their way out even if they hadn't used all the film. In their invitations the wrote "your gift to us is your presence to celebrate our union and wishing us a happy life together but if you feel you want or need to give a physical gift we would greatly appreciate it just remember it is NOT necessary". Then the disposable cameras that hadn't been used at all were given to the bridal party and people who stayed and helped clean up(they ordered 1500 disposable cameras from Amazon even though they only had 102 guests including me). They ended up with thousands of pictures that meant the world to them because they were of moments that their loved ones thought were special and slightly blurry ones taken by the grooms 5 yr old daughter. You know how pictures look a little different when someone you love and care about takes it vs a professional/stranger?

I got married last december (in Spain, so there may be different traditions). Some fun/personal cheap things we did on the day: we sitted with our best friends and our parents were sitted with the rest of the families, we played bingo after the main meal (there were 2 main presents), we prepared a friends dance (after the bride and groom and father/daughter dance) to start the dance party, we wrote personal thank you letters to everyone instead of giving little gifts, and we gave disposable cameras to our friends to see their perspective of the day 😊

We live in Hungary and they use registrars who go to where you want to get married eg restaurant, local government office etc. We will be riding our motorbikes to the local office, wear jeans and t-shirt for the ceremony and have a big party in the garden with a bogrács (cauldron over a fire-pit) or 2 for food!! Probably just be my 2 girls from family and the rest will be probably the entire village!!!! Can't wait to hear more of your planning 🙂❤

I would say if Liams suit is navy blue (and Im delighted to see he is going for 3 piece), soft pink will look great and timeless rather than rainbow or unicorn colours and is generally quite kind to most complexions, unless a bridesamaid has very olive toned skin. Reflections off sage green is not always kind to the complexion, so although beautiful, use lightly! Mostly you should think about what colour suits the bridesmaids so they look lovely and feel good too...they will glow rather than feel self conscious. Alexis, you have good taste and are very elegant in your style...play to that strength.

My suggestion: wedding first then reception with guests on a completely different day. My husband and I are easy going, laid back people. Fancy is not our style. When we got married it was just us, our parents, the officiant and a photographer. Got married at the local gardens. Dinner afterwards was at a winery, just us and the parents. I would have been happy with no reception, but the in laws were insistent on a reception. So we had a low key reception at a barn 3 weeks after officially getting married. Lots of people invited. BBQ for the food and ice cream for dessert. Dress code was literally wear whatever you want. We had people in polos and shirts, then others in fancy dresses. It was cheap, fun and not stressful. However all I remember from the reception is going table to table talking to guests. It was go, go, go. While the wedding day 3 weeks prior was just about us and more private. I don't regret a thing about it.

We saved money by doing 2 sheet cakes instead of a huge multi tiered cake. The one we cut went with the western theme of our wedding. The other one is what we served to our guests. We used paper plates & forks for the cake & plastic cups for the toast. We also did beef stew & biscuits for the food. ( Went with the western theme.) It was amazing & the whole thing cost around $4000.

Hello Alexis and Liam. When my hubby & I got married forty years ago. The need for continuous entertainment wasn't even thought about. We had a sit down buffet. Our singer during the wedding ceremony was a bloke that worked with my Father-in-law & my youngest Sister-in-law. We did have a band though. Our colours were dusty pink for the B Maids, hubby & his groomsmen wore navy suits with dusty pink ties, I wore cream as white made me look like a ghost. My Mum & Dad hired " Flim Flam The Telegram Man" who sung about me & Gerard. My daughters ( who had not been born yet) laugh about our wedding day, as the reception place is now a funeral parlour & we have said farewell to quite a lot of family from there. That was 41 years this year & to be honest I don't remember much about it. I was twenty & hubby was twenty five. He remembers more than me 😊 Oh and our photographer cost just over $500.00 but that was considered expensive in 1983. Remember it is YOUR day. Good luck. Jane in New Zealand 🇬🇧🇳🇿

Blush, gold, and navy look AMAZING together! Also, use flowers that are in season (they are way cheaper). I love the google drive idea for the reception but I personally think you should get a photographer for the ceremony(even if it’s a friend that takes great photos). It’s worth it to have a few great pictures. For my wedding, it was outside and we did a potluck BUT the twist was that all of the containers were the “gifts” and they had to give us the recipe. It was fun! Ok sorry so long…I love you guys and weddings make me happy!

I love the color blush, but blush doesn't love me. That might be something to consider. I look yellow, almost jaundiced in blush. Maybe do a combo of both of your options. Drop the pink, replace it with blush, then either do one or both of his other colors, but pale to go with the blush. I think a blush and very pale lavender/lilac would be stunning as a color theme. One thing I think is a great idea for the bridesmaids dresses is to allow them to have some say in the style and cut of the dress. They don't all have to match. If one is self-conscious about her shoulders or upper arms she can do a longer sleeve, if one doesn't like her legs, she can do a long dress, one may prefer form-fitting where another prefers flowing. I don't think the bridal party has to be all matching. Plus, if they pick their own style they might get more than one use out of the dress. I also think if nothing else you may want to invest in a photographer just for the wedding and family/bridal party photos. Those are priceless photos and memories that you would look back on. Then do like others have suggested get disposable cameras and have family and friends handle the reception. Another option might be to get a handful of Instax cameras and film and let people pass them around. Then have a photo album or 2 on a table where they can add their photos to your album. You could also do instax selfies for the photo booth.
@jenniferlisow29013 ай бұрын
In regards to wedding color scheme, if the groom & groomsmen are wearing navy suits, then I suggest a pastel cool color for the bridesmaids' dresses. If you do select blush pink color, make sure it pops as blush pink in pictures. Sometimes colors don't read the same in pictures so it's good to take pictures of the dresses next to the wedding dress to see how it looks.

Totally true, we spent our whole wedding talking to our different guest. I became a wedding vendor after my wedding, and to do it again I would not spend the amount of money I spent. The day goes so fast. My suggestion is spend your money on what is important to you. As far as photography, it is most lasting thing from that day. But even then twenty years later, I look at a couple pictures on the wall periodically. I never looked at my album after the first couple years. We watched the video when first got it and put it away. After my children got older, we showed them the video once.

You don't have to have the complete day if the cost is an issue, not everyone wants pictures of getting ready and things but I think some nice photos when you are married are something you can look back on for the rest of your life together. Simple is good and I'm sure there are companies, photographers, caterers that would assist you in finding the right dress and suit for Liam. I suggested to another YTer that she should have an all white wedding, where anyone who doesn't wear white has to go change. And if Liam's wearing a '20's suit see if you can rent a 20's wedding dress - they are spectacular.

I've never been married so I'm not sure what to suggest. It is a very personal thing. What I would like could be different from what you want. I like the sound of blush or pastel for bridesmaids. It's an excuse for a big party basically! 😂 We had no video but had a photographer. No speeches. We wanted a party vibe and that's what we got. My husband cried. It wasn't expected but I got the single tear! 😢 But if Liam doesn't cry then don't worry, just let the day unfold. I had a bit of a vision but the most important part of the day was my boyfriend becoming my husband and me becoming his wife so I didn't care to much about how it all ran. And it was a perfect day in the end. Main thing- have fun 🎉🎉🎉❤

You could look for a photographer to do the getting ready, the ceremony, and the portraits after. Just maybe like 3 hours. Sometimes they'll give you a better deal for a few hours. The skirt should be just under the knee, full and fluffy, but easily "collapsible"😂 That would also look really good with Liams chosen style! Some good advice from a stylist!! Wear your hair up! And pick a veil, that is short! You can add on a longer veil for the ceremony, if you want. But having a shorter veil for the party is a really good idea, because it is much more manageable😊 And lastly, choose a natural makeup. All of this will ensure, that you get a good day, and don't feel trapped in a big, heavy dress and long veil, and that the hair and makeup is kept in order for the whole day - and by keeping to the classics, you wont cringe over your photos in 10-20 years 😂 I would find a decent photographer for a wedding shoot. Just for maybe an hour, to take the important photos, and then the rest can be more free form 😊

My husband and I make Mead (honey wine) so our wedding “give away” were splits of mead with labels we printed ourselves. I think the cost came to like $3 per…and we encouraged that everyone take one home and join us in a toast (in person or virtually) for our first anniversary. We made a “fake cake” from styrofoam rounds and a hidden panel to cut and take pictures in front of, and then just did sheet cake for our guests. I think the blush with the uniform accents will be fun- blush dresses with unicorn colored flowers. I look forward to watching the process and planning!

When we got married, we had a potluck reception where I made the cake and cupcakes. We bought cheap cameras and announced pass them around. We took time to put together to make 3 different playlists for the wedding, the dining, and then the dance party. We got married 3 1/2 years ago. Our colors were Royal blue and orange with pale accents of the same. Oh! We also had board games out so people could play as they wanted. We didn't have a head table. We just chose wherever there was room amongst our guests and just wandered to sit and chat. Nit everyone's cup of tea, but it was fun.

Go to the florist and work out what flowers your going to get. That will affect your colours. Then you can pick bridesmaid dresses. Dusky pink and navy will be really nice. If you want rainbow just go for it, it is your day, ask the people who do the consult what they would recommend, then you have your options. The other thing is when you get the dress that is the big thing everything goes around that. I really like Liams outfit choice. Lace looks amazing you by the way.

My niece had a huge buffet and a pig roast at her wedding. It was amazing. Plus, as it was in the gardens of a large pub when all the guests had finished eating what they wanted the rest of the pig was sold to the other customers. So, it paid for itself.

Come to New Zealand 🎉 we got married for $150 by a celebrant at home, then went out for pizza where we went for our second date. We hate fuss, so randomly surprised friends and family when we visited. I love other peoples weddings, so I'm looking forward to hearing what you guys did ❤

I quite like neutrals for bridesmaids, even different shades from the same colour pallet. Also different styles can work. I am so pleased for you both

If you want a photographer there I might be able to help, I mostly do street and portrait photography, I love capturing natural moments that show the true beauty of people. I have done a wedding as a second shooter and absolutely loved doing it.

I think your idea about saving money and enjoying your special day makes so much sense and being able to use the extra money you will save for doing something really special for both of you is so important too.🥰🥰

I can’t find the comment I left before to edit, but for the colors: it entirely depends on the skin tones of the bridesmaids. Rather than go full pastel, which might wash someone out and then you’ll want to change it with photoshop in pictures, consider a single color you like and then let match the hue to the bridesmaid. It lets you still have a rainbow, but one might be in pastel pink while another is in a jewel tone.

Agree. Or,,even let them pick their own style and color to a point.
@katrose51793 ай бұрын
@@kiki29073 yeah, it’s more important than I think some people realize to take into account some colors like bad on people. Like. If I’m in a bridal party and the dresses are yellow, I’ll wear yellow. It’s not my day. But I’m going to warn the bride, because me in yellow will draw attention. Not because I look good in it-I don’t. I literally look like a walking corpse. I’ve been told by friends that it can’t be that bad, gone into a dressing room and come out in yellow and seen them pale and tell me to change. It just looks wrong in a way that draws attention.

I miss the long form podcasts, like having a proper "hang out" sesh with you guys - but I understand if the views are better on shorter videos. Might be an idea to set up a separate podcast channel? I've seen other husband/wife creators do that - have a main, a vlog and a podcast separate XXX

Thanks for the feedback - we have a million and one things in our ideas box haha - we both work full time and then do the social media and editing etc - we cannot fit any more time into anything right now - today was my only day off all week and i spent 9 hours of it video editing lol. It wasnt so much the views are better or worse on the type of content we just noticed lots of people dropping off after halfway and it also allows us to film two a week then instead of just one. xx

Rent and set up four or five 4K cameras. Have three on normal speed. And have one popping random shots on a timer. Take shots from the rolling film . Instead of loading to a card, find a cable out to load to a multi terabyte drive
