I don't know what dandadan is like, but saw someone criticise others for assuming the mangaka will always be inferior to fujimoto just for working as his assistant. Kind of makes me interested, because I don't like fujimoto... To be clear, I really don't have anything against him but his writing is kind of consistently mediocre in ways which I can't get into and I decided not to read chainsaw man after admitting I have no interest in ever rereading fire punch, I tried chapter 1 of chainsaw man this week and just felt frustrated. He's got a sort of formula because of underlying philosophy or whatever which feels like character depth that lasts stays just out of reach. I can't really get it when people say a manga with crude main characters being crude to make it crazy is so crazy but worth it though. The whole genitals focus just seems like the more immature ideas you get in seinen for like 18 year olds, if it's pulled off well and does have much more to it though that sounds good. ... Actually I've figured out why dandadan could be something I didn't mind despite not being interested in chainsaw man, the main characters are supposed to have an actual romantic development instead of it being teased and fucked up all the time. Anyway, nice podcast.
