Sikhs who have been through the Amrit Ceremony of initiation, or Amrit Sanskar, become baptised Sikhs, take new names, and wear the 5 Ks. 🪯

To be blessed with Amrit is to commit your life to the Guru's and the Guru's way of living, so you would only follow the Guru and not any other way. @@rawsinging3050 Many people belonging to to the human race under what could be termed 'hindu religion' used to have one child amongst their many offspring (often a male) who would grow up in way of Sikhi and even take amrit from a young age or perhaps as they got older. This is the level of respect and understanding people had as they knew if their child became truly liberated from the cycle of birth/death (via Sikhi) it would also mean a reprieve for the entire family and their generations! Like any religion/faith often a ceremony of submission (whatever form it may be) is undertaken! As per christians, muslims and many others they do not allow you to practice any other religion/including ceremonies or acts of faith/devotion. Only that which is prescribed/stated. Hinduism perhaps is a little more complicated in sense of yoga being utilised - much for its so called health/exercise benefits yet when we look at it under the lens of a microscope - these practices are part of religious ceremonies/rituals (stemming from if i am correct: hatha-yoga [as to if it it is hindu or buddhist that would be an area of research/fact checking) . Many carry out yoga disregarding the religious aspect. Would be an interesting debate/discussion to have considering the amount of controversial debate/opinions in western world surrounding it [by those who were heavily into it and then reverted back to their faith/religion e.g. christianity or judaism] Sikhi is its own distinct path and as such we have a code of conduct. Respecting religions/faiths is one thing but as Sikhs we do not submit to any other! This is not something that has been decided by individuals or organisations. Sikh Gurus make it very clear! As such if one came onto path of Sikhi previous religions/ceremonies/rituals are no longer undertaken - only that which is prescribed by Sikh Gurus/Code of Conduct. Hope this helps to add to and elaborate further on answers already given. Apologies for any mistakes or offence caused. Please forgive me. Not my intention. Any opinion/view expressed is my own. 🙏
