I drove from Cleveland Ohio a dyed in the wool Louisville Cardinals fan, to see my Cards and Lamar play for the first time live in Huntington West Virginia 2016, against the Gorgeous Green Thundering Herd for the second live game for them. I saw and walked with the Marshall faithful from crappy parking near the Horseshoe in Columbus, Ohio in 2004 and fell in love with them. Marshall is great people. As much fight and fire in them as buckeye fans that day. I'm born raised in Cleveland, Ohio and I couldn't give a thing ever about Ohio State football, but I'll rock the Marshall Green and grin cause they Are Marshall!

It's hard to believe that I was just 6 days old in Miami when this happened. May their souls rest in eternal peace

I don't care what Marshall's accomplished in the past their biggest accomplishment of my mind came on Is September 10th 2022. When Marshall University was paid 1.25 million Dollars to come in to into South Bend to play the Notre Dame fighting Irish. And for everyone to understand who doesn't watch football completely this was a tune up game in the eyes of Notre Dame. They scheduled them to beat them to kick the living shit out of them. This game was supposed to just boost the confidence of the Notre Dame fighting Irish football players. They wanted to store off their season at home with a blowout win. Instead Marshall came in to play them and pulled off the biggest upset in their programs history. I was in mountaineer field watching West Virginia warm up when we saw the score of that game. I never thought I'd hear mountaineer fans cheering cheering for Marshall or Marshall and when they saw who they beat the they were cheering loud.

Great video. I was 10 years old when this happened; and didn't know about it till the movie came out. I've done some research since. I've seen several articles and documentaries, and would love to visit Marshall University, and meet people who experienced this tragedy.

My older brother by 9 years, my parents’ first child, was three months when it happened. My late dad was a month shy of 27 at the time. I was that age at the time of the film We Are Marshall’s theatrical run. Based on your comment, my parents were in high school when you were born.

When the fountain should be turned back on is March 4, the birthday of Jack Lengyel, the coach who saved Marshall University’s football program. I was not born at the time of the incident on November 14, 1970, and neither was my parents’ second child, my older brother by 6 years. My older brother by 9 years old, my parents’ first child, was only three months old at the time. My late dad was one month shy of 27 at the time of the incident, and I was 27 at the time of We Are Marshall’s theatrical run.

With bad visibility you would think the pilots might pay special attention to the altimeter. What do I know.

Clearly not. Humans never have a clue hence it still taken place today. It seems “experts” only come out towards the end when it’s already too late. I’m starting to truly think maybe it’s time for AI computers after all.

Well if you took some time to do a bit of research. They were paying attention. The fog was so dense that night that according to NTSB they theorize that the pilots thought the refinery was the airport which is at a lower elevation and just before the hill they eventually crashed into. The NTSB report in its entirety is on the Marshall memorial website if you care to educate yourself on what they figured to have happened.
