My name is Mike Sherrett. Defensive lineman for Xavier University in that very game. Difficult loss. HOWEVER, I was part of the 50th football reunion for that game. Certainly not the focal point of that wonderful event, but an honor to be present at the event to acknowledge the BROTHERHOOD of team sports and football. This movie is at the top of my list for human interest and sports movies of all time.

My dad went to App State from 1984-88. App and Marshall were big rivals at the time (My dad still calls them the Thundering Turd lol) but App wore similar decals on their helmets for Marshall during the 1971 season. Even to this day, where App and Marshall have renewed their rivalry in the Sun Belt Conference, there is a lot of respect to the people of Marshall University and Huntington, WV. In 2022, App State and Marshall played each other in Huntington in Marshall's annual "75 Game" where the victims of the crash are honored. App State wore "75" decals and participated in the pregame ceremony honoring the 1970 team.

As a Marshall grad(88-92), I 'm Go Herd all day every day. You cut me open, I bleed kelly green. This movie did it justice. When I was there, the older students taught the younger students what it's all about. Hopefully, it continues today. Thanks for reacting.

The man who portrayed the Morehead State head coach in Marshall's first game after the tragedy was the real life Red Dawson.

I was in high school in Huntington when this happened. Lost with the team and coaches were many prominent members of the city traveling with the team as boosters. I personally attended three funerals for parents of kids I knew and went to school with. Some of the kids lost both parents in the tragedy. The scene of multiple funeral processions was accurate. It went on for days.

1960 Cal Poly SLO football team crash. Lost 22 of 48 players. They lost a game earlier that day. For many years they didn’t play a game east of the Rockies. The fullback Carl Bowser would eventually become one greatest football coaches at Bakersfield College (junior college) 80s-90s.

I was 5 when it happened. Too young to really understand but it was happening everywhere, all the time for weeks. I grew up in Putnam county about 30 minutes from the campus. They were boss as hell in the late 80’s and through the 90’s. They were the “giant killers” before App St ever was relevant. Ask Clemson and South Carolina😉

As a Marshall fan I feel pride that we rose through the ashes and became so successful we could've given up but we always found a way going from Southern Conference to MAC to CUSA and now in the Sunbelt conference and I'm proud to always be Herd for life Go Herd 💚🦬
