Watch Christian's story showing how a personalised package of support has enabled him to live a full life. It shows how important it is that people with profound and multiple learning disabilities can access personalised packages of care.

Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic. What an inspiring video, lets make sure this quality of life is accessible for as many individuals with PMLD as possible. Thank you for sharing your story Christian and Vicki.

This is such an impressive account of someone receiving the sort of support that means that their challenges and difficulties don't stop their life from being truly purposeful, meaningful and enjoyable. Kudos to Christian and everyone involved in his care for creating such a successful package founded upon respect, cooperation and a sense of potential. I was curious about one thing, though: I wondered what exactly it meant to Christian to work. How might Christian and other people with PMLD think about paid employment, as opposed to volunteering/being in education/having hobbies? What might someone with profound learning disabilities value most about having a job? Might they be glad to see themselves as "productive"? Might they get job satisfaction from the perception that they are "making a difference", "informing people", "providing a service" etc, as non-LD people might? I wondered if the meaning of paid employment was for PMLD people much as it is for non-LD people. I hope that question makes sense! Thanks. Anna

Who are you to judge him? He is a valid person in his own right whether he works or otherwise. My son has classic autism & intellectual disability (mental retardation) and yet, has distinction in his music exam with full marks for scales & sight-reading to boot. He studies music with a professor & also accompanies. Shame on you for your assumption, an ignorant one at best & rude at worst. Edit: non-verbal people CAN communicate.
