In this BUILT TO BIRTH PODCAST snippet, Marieta shares her journey and how to choose a doctor for pregnancy to feel most confident and comfortable in the care you're receiving. We talk briefly about what midwife vs doctor care can look like and how it really boils down to finding someone you connect and feel safe with. When you're trying to figure out how to prepare for birth, one of the most important things you can do is to find someone who you feel empowered by when placing your pregnancy journey into their hands.

A doctor on a power trip about my baby’s life is a horrible experience that I had a few weeks ago. They wanted to induce me. Thankfully my midwife suggested going for a second opinion & today my labor started naturally. Wish me luck ladies. It’s my first baby. ☺️

Mine was opposite. The midwife tried to induce me and the OB specialist was ok with having me wait.

With my first baby I switched from an OBGYN to a midwife at about 27 weeks. My experience with the midwives was amazing... I am pregnant again n my midwives closed their practice. I found an OBGYN started seeing them n I was never satisfied. Wn I told dem I was going to change Drs they informed me they hv 8 midwives. I was like WHAT??? At my next appointment I saw one of the midwives n I hv stuck with them ever since. For a healthy pregnancy I will always suggest a midwife.

I'm 41 weeks, first baby, and I just wanna thank you for all of these videos. Most of the classes in my area were canceled due to covid, and these helped ease my mind a whole lot. I'm being induced in two days if I don't have her over the weekend. I just wanted you to know. You've made me feel a great deal better and I have a panic disorder on top of it. Thank you so much for making this information available to women everywhere!

I’m 38 weeks, switched to a midwife at 30 weeks. Best decision ever!❤️

The hospital I will be birthing at has the lowest rate of C section in our area, and the OBs work WITH midwives during the labor and delivery process. I really think for me, it’s the best of both worlds, taking advantage of what both can offer me as a patient. I’m happy I don’t have to choose between an OB or a midwife.

Midwives are the best and more supportive than a doctor or other provider. Always choose what is best for you.

My first dr told me if I do a home birth my baby will die even though the hospital is five minutes away. I left and went to a birthing center. Later called and found out if I didn't do their mandatory covid test they would count me as a positive. And if I didn't stay the mandatory 24 hours or do the pku test they would call social services. Now I have a midwife. Shooting for a home birth. Lesson. Always do your homework before if you can. ♥

They tried something similar with me. I walked out & went for a second opinion.

I have a few friends who are also pregnant and we're all delivering at different hospitals. We've all gotten different rules. It's truly a mess. I opted for a home birth because the hospital that take my insurance just didn't seem to have consistent rules across the board and they were changing monthly. It got more stressful and I just didn't feel safe with them. It was a blessing in disguise because my husband saw the run around they were giving us and finally agreed to a homebirth which is what I wanted anyways. I'm 38 weeks Friday and no stress just joy!

I wish I knew I can change providers. I had an OB for my two pregnancies and I had anxiety every time I went to see her, and when she wasn’t avail I had to schedule with other providers I felt good and no anxiety. Idk why I allow that to happened 😞

Am I the only person on earth who loved their OB? Low risk pregnancy but scary labor and birth. Even if I hadn’t started in the hospital definitely would have ended up there anyway. My doctor always answered our questions told me if I wanted to squat I could squat(ended up with an epidural so that didn’t happen) Defiantly will use her again if we still live near by and she at the clinic.
