The one thing I really dislike about this Bison - aside from Scissors being motion which screws with years of muscle memory - is that his Head Press doesn't work properly. Horizontal range is too low, the jump is slow, and being force to dive straight down before attacking makes it even slower. I used to use Head Press as part of my mid-range pressure but now it just gets me killed because it has no horizontal reach. Pretty much just use Devil Reverse only.

Bison is good but people are reaching with top tier because of bicycle kick. He can be mauled by quite a few characters and has no way out of the corner. I definitely put him in high A tier. The point is thank god he's strong because it changes the meta of seeing just Ken's and Luke. That was really pathetic to see for a whole year straight.

Then you arent playing Ryu correctly if you trying 3 times as hard. Work on your neutral, and know your frame data. There is a lot of opportunities for Ryu in that match, and its Bison who is trying hard because everything Bison can initiate with can easily get shut down by a Ryu thats ready. Stop letting Bisons steal turns, become more aggressive.

I don't know why people continue to care so much about tiers to argue with people. Clearly nobody has a definitive answer. Top players were saying Ryu was top 5 and we all know objectively that's not true. There are too many variables at play-- online/offline, tournament viable, modern/classic, online stats, tournament stats, evolving meta. There is no definitive answer and also some of these pro players really don't know what they're talking about. No reason to argue over this, healthy discussions are where it's at.

I’m a diamond with ryu and akuma, and I run into bison time to time and he’s not to hard to deal with if you understand how he works. Once he gets knocked down he’s at a big disadvantage, and if he doesn’t have mine planted he’s cautious as hell. Once he gets the kind it’s a different game, but with the downsides to him I feel he’s fair overall. Like Aki is strong before the poison and just becomes scarier, bison has to get that line to get scary

Bison's been my main in every game he's been in since SF2:CE. He's my boy, good or bad. I even played him in Alpha 3 and the VS games including SVC where he's really not that good. Guess the topic of top one is still debatable but a character with no bad match ups, safe reads, anti zoning, one of the best offense and neutral, drains the opponent's meter like a vacuum and the highest damage is a top 5 characteristic. The simple fact that he has no bad match ups is so huge and his safe and high damage gameplay with strong buttons is literally a quality that made Luke top 1 last season. Sure his defence is lacking which does indeed blurrs his position in top 1 but top 5 is in the bag.

We all admitted and discussed the fact that Luke at the end of SFV was intentionally busted to sell something. The case is the same here, (though less egregiously) but so few people can admit it. Bison is intentionally overtuned to sell a character pack of which he is the only character available, and half the pack comes out next year. There has to be a reward for buying the character pack now. That reward is an overturned fan favorite, with a horse and movie references. The dude is a mishmash of nerfed things or tools from nerfed characters. He has Deejay's drive rush, Honda's headbutt, Zangief's nerfed medium kick, and on and on. Mine > Psycho Crusher is literally Condor Wind > Condor Spire, but with less investment required in the neutral, and more reward on hit.

The persepective from someone who is plainly "just not that bad" at the game (me), sitting in diamond... is that Bison is fucking unfair and boring to play against. Too many stuff from the game's main mechanics force you to play the way bison likes to play... and if you ever whiff his wombo combo takes simply too much life. He seems like a very low risk high reward character that wants to scramble (touch everything) in case he gets to be ahead you will lose at least a third of your life while he carries you half a screen in to the border to start betting what comes next. VERY BORING TO PLAY AGAINST and for that I only play Bo1s against Bisons. Now, you may call me "just bad" "get good" and It would be fair, but I reallllllly fucking hate Bison.

I don't think he's TOO strong, but definitely boring to play against, he's like a reverse guile, downbacks all game doing hard to punish things except he moves forwards instead of backwards, to me the problem is if he messes up his scissor kicks spacing, the best punish you can get is off a jab and he will be so far that it will be a jab into a special at best, you just have to keep waiting for him to mess up or to be in the corner before you're allowed to play against him, ex psycho crusher is also WAYYYY too good, now THAT is a broken move in my opinion.

Aki got insane buffs, Ed pretty much stayed the same but Momochi helped everyone figure out the character at an optimal level, it was always very obvious that a lot of people didn't have Ed matchup experience at EVO lol. I hope they release more characters like Sim, Aki, Ed and Rashid... it's very satisfying actually having to learn so many things for different matchups instead of having the exact same game plan for everything.

It's not even close his defensive options are vastly better than multiple characters. It took me one day of play to get him to master and zero times was I meaningfully held back by his defensive options. Sure meaty jab can in theory bait it but again heavy sweep beats Dhalsims level 2 even lol and meaty mediums beat Giefs 2 on some characters. Marisa is just straight up worse bison. He can do everything she can do better other than if she blows twice his super bar her 2 is a frame faster than bisons 1.
