We ATE the *SLIMIEST* Fish in the Ocean! Barrelfish Catch Clean and Cook

In this episode we take out a few fishing legends. Capt. Bouncer Smith, Capt. Kenny Spaulding Sr. and Capt Richard Stanczyk Sr. We wind up going deep dropping and the main goal was to get Bouncer his first ever barrelfish. After catching a queen snapper and a few small tuna we head to the barrelfish hole. Sure enough the bite was on and we caught a bunch of barrelfish including a couple on the hand crank rods! Back on land our neighbors cook some up for dinner and it turned out awesome!

It's so great making memories with family and friends. My mom loved going fishing with me every chance she got. it was a pleasure fishing with her all these years, but God called her home on January 27th, 2022. I will always cherish what we had. Looked great seeing friends and family having such a wonderful time. Nick if your going to blacken fish use Chef Paul's Redfish Blackening seasoning. Use a cast iron skillet glowing hot, use a brush to apply a thin layer of avocado oil ( very high smoke point) first in skillet then put your clarified butter or Ghee down before adding fish. While cooking (smoking) place another pat of butter on fish. Flip more butter. Good Eating

Many years ago I had a fish market in ny state. We experimented with selling underutilized fish. Among them was monktail also known as goosefish. Those are the slimiest fish in the sea. I know because I was in charge of filleting them. Yuck.

Another great video nick. I really enjoy when Sarah is in the videos too. I am having an ongoing disagreement with a neighbor regarding queen snapper. Do they move towards the keys, offshore obviously, in the winter? How far out and how deep would you suggest if I want to give it a try? Are you concerned about bringing a snowie grouper up and it dying from barotrauma in off season? I’m in the lower keys. Banana suit was hysterical. Do your thing and screw the haters…..there will also be jealous people who have nothing good to say. Do your thing.

Thanks! Appreciate it. When seasons closed for tile fish and snowy grouper I usually fish a little deeper to try to avoid catching them most the time. I’ve got queens as shallow as 590 and as deep as 1100 here .
