I think that the one thing worse than the getting pee on the floor thing Vinny brought up is when you decide to sit down to use a toilet you've never used somewhere especially in public and you sit down and the tip either touches the bottom of the bowl or dips into the water of said public toilet CTFU obviously it's bad in any toilet but in a public toilet now it's like well how am I gonna wash this off without someone potentially walking in mid sink rinse but you know you have to take the risk because the risk of leaving whatever may have been in said toilet staying on there till you get somewhere else is worse so now you didn't get to go and you're panicking lmao

When you get struck by lightning, yes you get burns, but one lesser known thing is that it can get so hot that it can fuse your bones together and that is one of the reasons people have a hard time moving after being struck by lightning if they survive

My recent interaction with Lightning. My girlfriend and I hiked to the top of high dune in the great sand dunes in Colorado last Friday night for sunset. Incredible sunset until the storm we were watching came over us and we all of a sudden felt static electricity everywhere on our bodies and crackling around us. Our hair was standing up like you use to do as a kid with a balloon but 10x. Hightailed it out of there for our lives lmao. We didn't get struck by lighting but it was damn close. Very much enjoying this series yall!

Fun fact, apparently lightning (unlike an electrical injury from a power line) travels around your skin, so yes, it can mess you up, but it’s unlikely to stop your heart, which is what makes it more survivable than you’d expect!

A tree in my backyard was struck by lightning several years ago while I was home alone with the pets and it was terrifying. It gave me whiplash because I jumped to the floor to cover the dogs. It fried our home phone, water heater, washing machine, a ceiling fan, and my satellite tv box (just the one in my room. Other room’s were fine…). It’s crazy what lightning strikes will ruin and what it won’t. I mean, my tv was fine even though the satellite box connected to it was fried. The cool thing was I had gone out and taken a picture of the storm clouds as the storm was moving in, so I actually have a picture of the storm that struck the tree in our backyard. And the craziest thing: the tree survived! It’s scarred by the strike, but still stands and buds and produces pecans every year.

I do know someone who was struck by lightning, my great uncle was struck as he was walking back to his truck after fishing, he actually has an entry and exit scar on the top of his shoulder and his leg. It is quite the story to be able to hear and he was very lucky that he survived that.

talking about AC, this is the first year where my dad turned the AC on with 0 need to convince him. one day in the mid 80s it was just REALLY humid, and he went fuck it and turned the AC on. pretty much have kept it on since. when you live in an area where 50% humidity is considered LOW like in the midwest, it doesnt need to be very hot for it to be more miserable than the dry heat down south.

I've legit been in a car twice when getting hit by lightning, the first time I don't remember it well because I was super young.. but the second time was CRAZY. It sounded like a mix between an explosion and the sound of a Transformer. I'm glad I wasn't driving and was just a passenger because I would have flipped the car, I don't know how the driver was beyond calm and unaffected and just pulled over and turned around and asked "Is everyone okay?".. I didn't even know how to respond because I was so perplexed by the lightning hitting, that I didn't even know how to process them being so calm.

35:50 I can vouch that you can walk it off. My dad's neighbor has been struck by lightning, directly, twice and both were in the exact same location. He already had a bad phobia of thunderstorms, so when he was in his barn and thunder struck, he darted for the house as fast as he could. Struck by lightning halfway to the house. About a year later, exact same thing happened again in the exact same spot. He's fine, still alive, just slightly insane. Then of course I was known in high school as the kid that was struck by lightning five times. Statistically speaking, I don't remember which study it was, but they found men to be six times as likely to be struck by lightning as women. I always make the joke that women should be standing next to me during thunderstorms because the odds say the next time I get struck, a woman must also be struck.

36:00 I was indirectly struck by lightning I was 8 or 9 playing in a little league baseball game and I was holding the fence talking to my dad when the foul pole got struck and sent both us back a good 5 feet, we felt really tingly afterwards and my heart felt a little funny but both us were fine. My moms friend in college got directly struck at a lake and unfortunately passed away from it so it has a range of effects

And for my 3rd lightning related comment 😅🤣: My ex’s dad and brother were in a pickup truck that got struck by lightning. My ex’s little brother kept the bent up, lightning struck car radio antenna and hung it on his wall. The truck stayed running long enough for them to get it out of the field (the were farmers) and to a car shop. Once it was turned off, it was gone. All of the electronics were fried. Also, I never get in the pool if there’s lightning within 10 miles, but google told me that no one has ever been struck by lightning while in a pool, so idk…I won’t risk it, though.

So my grandfather got struck by lightning (to be completely honest it probably just struck REALLY close to him, but to hear him tell it he got hit) And he said it knocked him out and he woke up like 25 minutes later and just walked it off. This was also in like the 60s when people didn't go to the hospital unless they were like legitimately dying.
