We Barely Survived 1 Month in a Tiny Van in the Australian Outback

We Documented an Entire Month of Van Life in the Australian Outback. We were told by many exploring the Outback in our Tiny Van in Summer this was a terrible idea and maybe it was, [Remember to protect yourself with Nord VPN: www.nordvpn.com/chapter and use our link for 4 months free with 2 Year Plan] but it was one of the best bad decisions we ever made.
We endured extreme temperatures, terrible roads, a road train ripping of our solar panels, so were travelling with no solar power but we were determined to conquer the outback. We pushed on to the heart of the Australia: Uluru. Watching the sunset over such a special place made everything feel worthwhile. Beyond Uluru things took a turn for the worse and it was probably our most difficult week of van life yet journeying the backroads to Alice Springs, but the animal encounters and swimming hole made that low become the highlight of our trip. Then beyond we took a 4wd adventure to the geographical centre of Australia at Lambert, but with the clock ticking to get back to Adelaide within four days. This month was an emotional rollercoaster, plenty of dark days, but the highs were unbelievable, it has been the adventure of a lifetime, and we survived the hardest challenge we have ever set ourselves. These memories deserved a place on our channel forever, one big video combining all our highs and lows an ode to the outback which will always have our hearts.

We are Philly and Keely and we live full time in our tiny home on wheels Martha. After building our DIY home in a Citroen Relay camper we spent a year living on the streets of London before quitting our jobs only to be met with lockdown. Then we took our van further than she had ever been before to the very beautiful Turkey. Enroute, we stopped off in Spain for a few weeks where we experienced every van lifers worst nightmare, we were robbed and they stole all valuables in our van. But then we were back on our feet, fully MOT’d and back on the road through Europe before we experienced another vanlife nightmare... our van caught fire!! After the trauma of that we had a massive change of plan and made our way to Japan. We enjoyed a three-month Japanese Adventure and then got back to Martha for some new European Adventures. After an incredible three-month Scottish road trip, we packed up our van and headed to Australia for a new van life adventure! Here we bought and built our new van in only 30 days and then took him deep into the Australian outback and beyond!

Best epic outback adventure movie ever!!!! Netflix should be all over this. I can hear the preview now: “Cute Irish vanlife couple innocently head into the vast Australian outback in the middle of summer not realizing it’s off season, that everything is closed and that they have undertaken a journey akin to delving into Hades itself”. 😂 Love you both and thanks for taking extreme vanlife to a whole new level of entertainment ❤

We made it all the way through! That bowl of popcorn only lasted 15 minutes, though. 😁🍿 What a treat this recap was!! Uluru was already on my Aussie bucket list, but definitely adding a dugout hotel stay in Coober Pedy & a trip to the Center. One thing I noticed on this rewatch: the 4x4 rental was the same price as the sad wee box of mac & cheese. Two opposite answers to the question, "What does $4 get you in Australia." 🤣🤣 Since you asked (again 😁) our opinion on the moon landing, I'll also add to my previous response that there were *SIX* manned missions within a three year period. Woulda been impossible enough to keep it all quiet once, but certainly not 5 more times. I'm still thinking they happened. ❤️❤️✌️😎xx

I love hearing people's different theories, not all are just that it was fake, but lots that the footage isn't the whole story, that's my favourite theory. Have you read the book space aramada? @@phillyandkeely oh, and I definitely believe there is intelligent life out there (if there wasn't, it'd be an awful waste of space #moviequotequiz). I loved watching your experience in Australia although with how windy it is-the flies-and heatwave you deserve a medal. Being from Ireland it must’ve been like being on a different planet. Miserable there. 🔥 I’m from Oregon, USA and our state is a lot like Ireland. Mild and rainy but not year round. I bet you’ll have great memories and a good laugh when you recall this time later..😂 You both are entertaining and fun to watch. This is epic! Great video and awesome production value. A tip for surviving the Aussie heat is to let your hair down under your hat and keep it moist.😉 It also helps keep the sun off your shoulders and a shake of your head when your hair is wet swats flies rather effectively.

We just spent a couple of weeks towing our caravan around outback NSW by the time we reached Broken Hill it was just too hot to enjoy anything. We headed back home to Lake Macquarie and will sit it out now for a month or 2 before we head back out there and then onto the Eyre Peninsular and Central Australia. I admire the fact that you actually stuck it out but seriously you couldnt have picked a worse time of year to be in that part of the country.
@phillyandkeely

Oh yeah worst time of year by miles we would not recommend it to anyone 🤣🤣 but our six month visa falls over summer so it was either summer or never haha

@@phillyandkeely yeah I know how you guys feel we were only out there because we were travelling with friends from Tassie who were heading to Perth. We thought we would spend some time with them by going as far as Broken Hill, absolutely not the time of year we would have chosen to go but sometimes you are governed by circumstance. We will be heading for the Eyre Peninsullar ourselves in April its probably one of the very few regions in Australia that we have yet to visit enjoy the rest of your time here.

Hi guys I have finally got my internet back but no You tube and no land line this is thanks to the last Cyclone Kirrily at least I have been ably to catch up on my I Pad yesterday and now I am watching you all over again. We also lost our Electricity on the day the Cyclone hit and got it back 4 days later so we lost everything in our fridge and freezer. We also had a heat wave with no fans or aircons and it was the weirdest cyclone we ever had because we got a little bit of rain while it was going over the Island and then it just stopped but a lot of places on the mainland got lots of rain and all we got was heat just like you guys. Thank goodness a month has passed and we have been getting rain and the weather is much cooler but when the rain goes we will go back to normal hot weather but with electricity and fans and aircons. I hope you are having fun and Safe Travels were ever you are Lots of Love 😊🏝🦋💖🦮🙏🏻

Perhaps the heat is why there are no tourists this time of year. Perhaps you should have stayed south for a couple days until the heatwave past? Just thinking. Yes Australia is 🔥 HOT. You were warned. Good luck. The foot prints at the middle of Australia are Emus. The middle toe is the thing to be careful of. They kick . X
