I have been Boondocking for five years two suggestions use a gallon pitcher in the shower to run the water in until it gets hot for your shower. That way you can use that water to fill the toilet in the morning rather than taking freshwater out of your tank, the other suggestion is, solar, solar, solar, and of course, lithium batteries are much much more efficient than any other type
@TheShinpaughs5 ай бұрын
I love the idea of using the cold water:) We started with Litium batteries but our motorhome has a Vanner system and they did not like one another. If we keep the coach we will figure out how to add some solar for at least the fridge, Starlink and some 110 outlet. I said to Linda several times solar would be nice here or there.

Next time you go to Costco, grab a 12 pack of Irish Spring soap. Open them up and put one in each compartment in the middle between the bays. I like hanging them and onion sacks or cheese cloth. I also use them in the Truck glove compartment under the hood, normally two or three, and if you have an enclosed bed, I’d put one or two in there as well. Mice cannot stand the smell.

I grew up tent camping, essentially dry camping, but always near a stream or lake cuz we fish. Even in an rv, we have a shower tent, which doubles as an outhouse with a camping toilet. We fill shower bags from the stream that are heated by the sun Those dry camp showers feel great!

Thank you for NOT using rat poison! My questions were about a.) Solar which you kinda answered and b.) Starlink which you have!!! I also love how you give information in a conversational way. Again, thank you all!

Thank you. We were on a small back road while recording this video. That is why I don't have my seat belt on. I would for sure add solar just to run the fridge and Starlink if nothing else. It would make a huge difference for us not having to use our generator for those 2 items.

"Don't be afraid to do it"... will result in many people getting their rigs stuck if they aren't used to driving off road or off the well beaten path. The first step is to figure out how off road capable your rig is and assess what the "road" surface is like where you want to go. Getting a heavy Class A rig stuck in the middle of nowhere is not for the faint of heart.

That was an amazing view to live, work, and do school. I wonder thought, why haven't you tried solar power with stand up panels and solar generator? I bought a two panel system and 2K watt solar generator but I couldn't figure out how to hook them up. LOL
@TheShinpaughs5 ай бұрын
We started with Lithium batteries. Our coach has a Vanner system and it does not play nice with Lithium. We considered solar and its still an option but we just could not justify the cost knowing we have the generator. If we keep this motorhome we will most likely add enough to run the fridge, Starlink and some 110 outlets.
@user-Tortured-soul3 ай бұрын
Tip cut very fine mesh to the size of your air vents use steel if possible this makes it very difficult for mice to gain entry to your motor home. Remember Mice can squeeze through holes the size of a gap the diameter of a pencil 10mm.They can also gain entry via pipes,leave the plug in after every use of the sink or shower. Go around your RV locate entry points along the under belly and sides of your RV.You can then spray with fire retardant foam spray. Keep food in mouse proof containers. Store all dry goods in glass containers. Put pet food bowls into containers during the night. Clean up food dropping before going to bed. Avoid parking near grass try to park on concrete. You don’t want mice getting into your electrics they will chew on the wires and cause thousands of dollars worth of damage. Place some night vision cameras around the inside of your RV and check them in the morning to make certain you don’t have anymore little visitors during the night. All the best. Loving your videos lovely family❤

Do you use RV toilet paper and does it really make a difference. If you do use is any brand better than another? And Norman is a great dog but do you have a tracker or some type of alert siren if he gets out? Great vids. Thanks.

We have always used Scott septic safe TP. It works great and you can get it everywhere. Norman is pretty much a couch dog unless we are hiking. When we hike he is either on a leash or his electric collar. Thank you for watching!

Would you add solar?
@TheShinpaughs4 ай бұрын
I think so. We have such a large generator that we can run the whole house but I would consider it to run the fridge, starlink and some 110 outlets. It would be nice not to have to run the generator everyday. I do change the oil Myself so that saves a good bit of money.

We are calling this the year of the mouse.. and we aren’t boondocking, never had this before and we have been doing this a while. We have a Renegade Super C but the mice don’t care if you have a big rig or a tent.. our first mouse popped out of the shower drain when I started to take a shower… it wasn’t pretty and I might have screamed… a lot… hubby caught him he was trapped in the tub we think he came down the vent pipe on the roof.. I am now much more aware taking showers I consider it a contact sport.. last night we heard scratching in the wall (dogs ignored it). Short version is we removed a wood panel and was able to catch him.. no fun). We too are from Florida but live out on some property so mice are there too, our old dog was a rat terrier and no mouse was safe with him… I told my hubby 1 more mouse and I am getting another rat terrier for security…
