I worked on Ready Steady Cook! They have home economists who come out to work out the recipes for the chefs once the guests have gone through the bags, and that if they run out of time to cook the meals they just stop filming, finish cooking, then resume filming! We weren't allowed to eat any of the food on set as most of it wasn't cooked properly and had been under hot lights for hours.

Watching Lymp fumble around with that gigantic knife made me actually queasy, instantly I had flashes of the time my best friend maimed herself while trying to halve a bagel. Basically she had the bagel in one hand, a much too large knife in the other and the next thing I knew her entire palm had been sliced open. Knife safety practices are our friend, people!

many years ago I was hanging out with my mom at her house. for some reason I thought it would be OK to cut cheese with a paring knife and almost lost the tip of my right ring finger. my mom flipped and overdressed it (rubber thimble to top it off). I was about 25 at the time and had worked food service most of my adult life up to that point and 100% knew better. I still have a faint scar 14 years later 😅
