Regarding hoisting your outboard. If you take the cowling (cover) off, most outboards have factory installed hooks, probably for use as they move along an assembly line during the manufacturing process. If your motor has these, they would be simple to hook onto to hoist your motor and not require your sling. You could then replace the cowling after the motor is secured on board.

Love the video's and your adventures, a cardinal rule is to never leave your winch handle in the top of the winch, first problem you have will be to lose the handle overboard if you don't have the lock set and the second thing is a safety issue, if you need to let out line quickly when it's on the winch, the handle gets in the way and could possibly fowl and make you heal over excessively. There's also nothing better than new sailcloth. Cheers

But I put my anchor chain in a 5 gallon bucket filled a bit higher than the level of the chain with 100% vegetable oil whenever they are in the chain locker. My power boats are parked on shore all winter for sure and in a marina except for when I go out and I think vegetable oil is way less damaging to the environment.
