I was a teacher in FL before we started travelling, and in our district, students who were homeschooled were still eligible for the benefits that public school offers. We had a homeschool student who came to the gifted glass once a week and others who utilized speech therapy and other services.

I've removed my 11 year old daughter from school, we homeschooled a few years ago, tried her in main stream and she's been let down in Maths because her teacher at a critical point was a student and didn't recognise she was not "getting it". So now we are playing catch-up ourselves, but having great fun again doing what we want to do and will use online education for internet exams in the UK. Always love to chat with other homeschooling parents too. xx

I absolutely love you Meghan and Mike! I only discovered your channel recently but I visited your website and saw your Life Unboxed course, which I'm so excited to start! Since I found it just today I'm going to try and start today :) The life you 2 lead is something I think a lot of parents dream about but it seems so difficult. I personally dream about being an exceptional parent and an exceptional human being, able to show my kids how big the world is and not being tied down by bills, jobs, and fear of change or the unknown. I've recently realized that these things don't have to be merely dreams to contemplate when I have free time; I can use that free time to actually work towards making my dreams a reality. That was a huge epiphany for me, and with your guidance, I feel more sure that I can accomplish our family goals!!! Thank you guys for being you and sharing w/ the world!!

Hi guys. It's great to get an update. I just wanted to let you know that you are an amazing family and that starts with an awesome mum and dad. You let your children find and follow their dreams in an open way. I remember when you got the first plan for Eve and it wasn't letting her be everything she can be. It's great that you are home schooling her and I know that will take a while for it to be as fluid as it needs to be because at least where I'm from we don't have access to home schooling special needs kiddies. I used to be a primary school teacher when I was well and I believe that every child needs an individual plan but I know that is too had to do with a class of 30. That is why I'm so excited to see Eve flourish in a setting that she feels safe. I'm a similar age to both of you (I turned 40 last year despite my doctors giving me only two years to live 8 years ago) and I'm single, bedridden and my body is failing me very quickly. So thank you for sharing your life with us, I for one feel so blessed to have the opportunity to see how your family functions and it is remarkably similar to what I used to dream of but it wasn't meant to be for me. The one thing that I can do is pray so please let me know if you have specific prayer needs and until then I'll keep you all on my generalised prayer list. God bless each and everyone of you. Xx

I agree that I like this house better too even though the Utah house was amazing! I’m really liking the dark interior doors. Can’t tell if they’re slate or black but they really pop against the light walls. Kitchen /living layout is great too! Thanks for the update. Love following you guys!

We are camping lovers... and up until this past year we tent camped. Due to a back injury I can’t do the tents anymore... so we purchased a Hybrid... the Forest River Flagstaff Shamrock 233s. We have had an issue due to faulty service by our dealerships service department. It ended up leaking after they serviced the one bed end. And now we are fighting proper repairs. Ours has 3 queen beds, the dinette and a couch... so it sleeps 9! My goal is to be full time in 3 years, since our youngest is a sophomore and she wants to finish at the school where we currently live! I suggest your videos to everyone I know thinking of full time RVing with kids. Y’all are the best!

I don’t think I realized that rugs even came that big! Wow! the new house looks amazing and cozy and homelike ❤️ We are unschool-ish also where we use a math curriculum and I present learning opportunities by strewing. Leaving books out I got at the library. Turning our hutch into a science experiment cabinet for a few months. Reading books about a time period and going to a museum. Sometimes I wonder if it is enough. Am I doing them a disservice by not teaching all the things a school would? But then I think about how much I remember from school and think... nope!

There are so many really great people to follow on IG that do RV makeovers, RVinspiration is one and RV fixer upper just to name a few. I'm sure the kids will meet plenty of friends from church and from local fun places, I am all for unschooling, my kids were schooled that way after we had a few big problems with public schools. I would think there is some place close you could get Eve into that offers speech therapy, check into Sylvan learning centers, or maybe someone at church would know a tutor. Eve has a lot of ability, I watched that show born this way and was totally floored with what those young people have done. Your house is absolutely beautiful and thank you for giving us a small peek into your life. Take care and God bless all❤❤❤❤

When I first started following your family, you were in the Jayco RV full time. I totally support your decisions with your kids. We learned some hard lessons with our kids. Now, neither of them are in a public school. They actually attend an accredited virtual school. I swear IEPs are written to accommodate the adults that are supposed to be helping the kids. My son's accommodations were NOT written to challenge him, he's ADHD and has autism and he's very high functioning. My daughter is dyslexic. Once we had our kids in this virtual school environment, we were able to challenge them more and both of them have grown by leaps and bounds. You have to do what is best for your kids! My kids aren't outgoing at all, so we struggle with them making friends, also a consequence of them being severely bullied in public school. But, even with that, we've had to learn not to push them. They have to want to make friends, it's something we will continue to work on. Congrats on the new RV! Also, the bookshelves look amazing! Who care if they aren't the same size, they look great and fit YOUR space very well.

What a fun and exciting new chapter! I really enjoy the change that comes with moving. The longest I ever lived in one house as a child was five years. After college I did a multi-state move every year until I settled where I'm currently at. I'm almost to 4 years in one home now and I'm starting to get quite antsy, especially because this area is not where I want to stay long-term. You all seem so refreshed and relaxed.

when Eve gets to reading level, there is this amazing program called Edmark. A boy with down syndrome and another with developmental delays use it in the school I work in. It teaches how to identify words, spelling, reading, sentence structure...its amazing. There are mini quiz's at the end of each lesson and it's all online so you can track progress and see what needs improvement.

She loves to follow your adventures as a big family (we have “only” 4 kids so far), but she also enjoys seeing glimpses of your homeschooling life. We both would be very happy to see a little more of the homeschooling part; more about your curriculum or material choices including the unschooling part, but also glimpses of the actual work done by the kids. Could be boring for some, but very interesting to us.

I love the home you are currently in...I think its probably a good idea to home school the younger kids. But I'm all for the older ones going to high school. The need to do both. Helps with socialization outside of the home. Although i know you meet people travelling etc. Its the structure as well, dealing with others on a daily basis outside of the home. Which you don't really get at home. But you are great parents and seem to be doing what's right and what works best for your family. Plus you are asking them what they would prefer to do. Great parenting.. Just my opinion.

I wish my parents had known or thought about homeschooling options. I would've loved so much to spend time delving deeper into things I was interested in. During the summer breaks I guess I experienced a version of homeschooling in that my best friend would come over to my house on weekdays and our parents assigned us studying to do in various subjects. Studying with a friend made it more fun, but we didn't get to choose any of what we studied. I remember we would get dolls and stuffed animals out and pretend they were doing the assignments and we were teachers giving them grades. Or we would pretend we were college students. Different rooms of the house became different buildings on campus so we would do math in one room, reading in another etc. And we used monopoly money to pay for our dorms, our lunches, our school supplies.

I homeschooled all 5 of my younger ones. They were all adopted from Foster care in Spokane. In the years that ensued, they attended Parochial school off and on. Public school here and there. I taught in Special Ed in Priest River Id. Great Sp Ed program, underwhelming school District. I then taught in the Behavior classroom for several years in Spokane. (I saw that eye roll, or heard the groan). Spokane is not my fav either. In those 4 years of me, teaching is when the kids attended outside school. All finished up with me and 4 now have Idaho State approved Diplomas. My youngest is a sophomore and High Functioning Asperger's. I now teach ESL to children in China online. I LOVE II! Quite a marked difference from the Behavior Classroom in Spokcomptom. I see homeschool as dynamic and fluid. Whatever works best for each individual child at the time. That is the beauty of it. Trust me as a Sp Ed insider, Eve is way-way better off with you at home.

I was wanting to yell at the screen! She is due the same as all children. The school needs to accommodate her needs! So sad that it doesn't happen that way.

Yes they do have the same rights but a lot of time the schools fail. We had an iep and we constantly had issues. We homeschool now and it is so much better.

@@samnelson4988 I am so glad that Eve and your child had parents that are willing and able to take over their education. But not all children have the option of being brought home. So in the broader scheme of things that school needs to do better by all children.

paula brogan yes iep is a legal binding contract they have to support her in every way they write down on that contract. I'm offended they didn't let her in regular ed they discriminated against her I would be so mad I'm so mad for them and it's not even my baby!

paula brogan Yes! It’s Public Law 94-142. A school is required to accommodate her, even it they have to hire extra personnel to do so.
