Jesus chaps, that was a brutal end to an everyday video about a "retro" Honda (it was made in the year 2000 FFS, I'm so old! 2000 was yesterday!😬). Glad to hear everyone walked away from that horrific accident. If I'm going to get rear ended the last thing I want to see is in the rear view mirror is a truck hurtling towards me. Crumple zones were a thing in 2000. Phew.

I am so glad that both passengers are ok. You hear the words "hit by a truck" and immediately fear the worst. Oft said but, cars can be replaced, people can't.

Quite happy everyone survived the crash. I enjoyed your review as it was realistic and didn't trash on the cars for lots of reasons like a lot of people do because they really are excellent for their purpose. I have three of them. LOL

Wonder what 2nd hand prices on electric cars will be when more are getting old and batteries are useless and need replacement, after a few years there are down to 70% capacity, thats a lot of miles lost. cost more than car will be worth to replace batteries. I'm sticking with decent fuel efficient petrol ive modded, not worth me worrying in my lifetime

@@daddymulk We are already there the Nissan leafs and Smart EVs have already been out long enough to be in this exact sitation... and guess what nobody wants them becasue the cost to replace the battery is more than the value of the cars so they fill the landfills green right?

I do love these, I think uprated battery packs are available that offer far greater capacity than the originals. Apparently in electric/hybrid terms they are easy to work on compared to some newer offerings

As grueling as the ending was it was also quite comical I hope no one was hurt badly unfortunately the same cannot be said for the poor little honda you guys never have massive luck

Please get another one! It would be even better if the battery was worn and needed a some sort of replacement to keep it on the road. That will be a big concern for people trying to save cars like this in the future. It would be super interesting to see what options you would have.

What an absolute nightmare. This is the downside to driving older cars on road, not like you can replace it easy. When i needed to buy my own car after 18 years of company cars, wish i'd known more, my choose of car was a Honda, Always picking up big itens though so needed Estate Type and i like different so got HRV, still have one now 2000 model, Kept finding more info on Honda, Lean Burn VEI Civics, Then later ones also so then wish i had bought the Aerodeck 1.5 Lean Burn, 50mpg from Petrol Family Estate i thought was amazing, then i find out about these and i was so tempted to buy one, I believe these are also Lean Burn Engines as well as IMA. I was doing daily commute of 70miles luckily only 3 times a week, this was my exact worry that using on motorway and this happens. Also with only 2 seats it would have to be 2nd car, so instead i bought CRX VTI, summer top down fun, had Civic Lean Burn as well for a while to test, was getting 49mpg to work and back, 520miles on each tank which would be 45L fuel, really saved me some money over HRV as that got 38mpg, but I like the HRV so i took the engine out the civic when mot was up and its inow n a 2000 HRV that had blown engine, did 2 long runs in it last and got 525 miles, 47.5mpg which isnt bad, would love to try these insight out and see what fuel economy i could get with that, next one i want to do is Lean Burn Twin Vtec in Mk2 CRX. One thing i'd like to know, if Birmingham City brought in Clean Air Zone for peoples health why do they charge people in This Insigt when its one of greenest petrol cars ever?

Oh no!! Glad to hear both are ok but that looks a bad one! The up side to modern cars is the ability to endure a helluva bump and keep the occupants safe. Wasn't mad keen on these cars but was looking forward to the content to see how it stacked up 20 years on. Oh well....back to car shopping then, eh?

A future classic? I didn't think these cars were well recieved at launch? I suppose it being an early hybrid might count for something, but its hardly an exciting car. I never liked the look of these, especially those hideous filled in rear arches. But you guys know your stuff so i am prepared to be educated.
