We BOUGHT The CHEAPEST VW Bug on Marketplace. Will It Run?

Unless Im seeing it wrong that's a Super as well since it looks like it also has struts. Also only the Super had a spare that laid flat in the trunk. Standard Beetles the spare stood up inside the well & a torsion bar front beam thats way easier to lower. Had a 71 Super in Arizona Beige & def not a fan of the strut front ends

Definitely a Super Beetle. The '71 and '72 models had flat front windshields and the front apron is curved with vents below the bumper.

That is a super beetle. The main signs of a super is those vents on the front apron, the spare tire lays down flat and they only made convertible standard beetles until 1970 and of course the coil overs. Loved the video great to watch!

It's got struts that's a super beetle. They have solid lifters. Set the valves cold at tdc per cylinder to..006

That's a SUPER BEETLE,,,,, and it has struts and has louvers down on the apron area.Thats a brake reservoir, early type 1 vws have it down by where the spare tire would go.

That’s sad. A few houses down from mine sits in the driveway an old VW Bug that’s been sitting there since I was a kid. I don’t know if it really runs or if they push it around because it gets moved into the yard from time to time so the owners can get into the garage but other than that it hasn’t moved off the property since some time in the 90’s since my family moved into town. It’s sad seeing a cool old car like that just sitting and not driven around at least during the summer months.

71 was the first year of the super beetle and since the spare lays horizontal it’s definitely a super, if it were a standard spare would sit upright. VW had to stretch the front end to make room for the McPherson strut.
