Having driven bandbuses for years , get a good electrician to check ALL the cabling . The bunk walls upstairs tend to block the air flow so that might be why the A/C doesn't seem to work so well upstairs , a German firm called Fairline ( that I have driven for ) installed minisplit units to get around that problem , with the condensor unit mounted in a bay door , handy for heating in the winter too . Good luck with your conversion

I stayed on that bus back in 2017 or 2018! It's an ex Y-Not bus isn't it? Called the Purple Palace? The gear box was knackered then, so they used it for parking up at festivals instead of touring! As soon as I saw the start of the video, I recognised it 😂. We sat watching films in the downstairs lounge with the driver when there wasn't much going on work wise!

I absolutely love your bus. My dad was a bus driver, we spent many happy times on the bus when he was working in the 70s. Would love a bus convertion and my partner has her class 1, so when we move to Spain, we would consider getting one to convert. @@six_inabus No, thank you for bringing back good memories for me. I drove these beasties over many hundreds of Km's for a few years and there was very little out there that could beat them for taking punishment without a whimper! The key was good maintenance. Volvo, on the other hand had a "If it ain't broken, don't try to fix it" motto! As a qualified HGV mechanic I also serviced the coaches I drove and I never remember having any jobs that were a bit of a pig to do on any Volvo, well thought out and well made.

@@six_inabus It's going to make a spectacular home on wheels, for sure! You'll smile every time you drive it and keep smiling when it's parked because it will attract passers by. We sold everything we owned back in 2007 and full timed all over Europe and North Africa until 2012. We started with a large American motorhome (inferior quality to what you have of course) but there was a constant presence of campers taking pictures of it! Only country we had a problem with the size was Northern Spain because it wouldn't fit on any of their pitches! 😂😂 The regular comment was "Muy grande motorhome!" But your's will blow their socks off, everywhere! Have fun! 😊

A massive plus is the smooth ride quality of a coach conversion,....Prevost in the US are testament to this,...So many things go wrong and can break on a regular RV as every journey is a potential earthquake for the fixtures and fittings !! Another helpful part of the team are the kids being able to scramble around the belly lockers,..I'm about your size and that's not a job I could take on !.....And another big plus,..Being inside,...winters not long off so that's very handy ! All the best and I will watch this project progress !

Remember when this bus turned up at one of SAS's festivals, St Agnes, Cornwall, back in the 00's. Looked moody then, still does, a bit. I'd disinfect the interior before letting the kids run around it first but maybe it's too late for that. Plans sound plausible. I'm a fan of big open wet room spaces. Grew tired of cramped tiny spaces to poo and clean in - always a compromise. Interested to watch your progress on the interior and the mechanics. New subscriber. Good luck.

It looks a great bus. Lots of room. The one thing you could do with the windows , is see if you could convert to privacy glass where you can see out but people outside can’t see in. Perhaps get some brighter carpets. I think keeping the kitchen would be good , as it looks in good condition. Be nice to see you get started and get her looking ship shape ,to you and your families liking. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Privacy glass/film works by day but at night with the lights on inside then everyone walking past can see everything going on inside

Going from the luxury of your tour bus to the extreme opposite. In the St Helens museum of transport is a 1948 AEC Regent. This was part of a fleet sent new to Australia where they were modified to run a regular cross desert service from one side of the continent to the other. They had a stringent servicing schedule with regular full nut and bolt strip downs. The engines and gearboxes were rebuilt at set mileages. This bus had travelled 2.25 MILLION when it was sold. It was bought by a family in 1984 ? and after a rudimentary camper conversion it was driven across Asia and Europe to the UK to visit relatives. After a UK tour it was left behind when the family returned to Australia. I believe they returned and did a tour around Europe before it went into preservation back in the UK.

Please please tell me you inspected the chassis before buying that old nail. The upper windows leaked like a sieve when they were brand new,if nothing else works,make sure the ferry lift works because they ground out going over anything bigger than a pebble. When the compressor stops building air,remove the return pipe and block it with a 2pence piece, works a treat

She needs about if work underneath. But nothing that won’t hurt us. Use to dealing with these sort of things. Ferry lift is currently not as needs a new airbag on front ! Thanks for the tip! And thanks for watching.

Having done lots of tours on busses like that, my experience is rock and roll antics are the exception, not the norm. It will mostly be lots of crew sitting on their macbooks or trying to get some sleep. A star bus with much fewer berths maybe, but on any bus with 16 berths it's going to have a proportion of crew. Looks a great project though, your plans all seem great. Interesting to see the back lounge not separated by a door. Generally those needing to get up early the next morning (production riggers, lampys etc) will go to bed early, but with a door on the lounge it means backline techs can stay up later.

I used to drive this coach for YNOT touring, I think I drove parkway drive to a metal festival, it had a fuel pump issue, I used a 10mm to undo a nut whilst someone started it. I wanted to buy it myself but didn't have the 30k he wanted at the time. I wish you the best of luck pal. I went from coach to decker as I don't do the miles anymore. Don't touch any socks around the beds!!!!!
