Have you two ever thought about a clutch with a designed slipper effect that lets the car get up to RPM and rolling before it locks up tight? You could do the same with smaller tires and use controlled spin to get moving without breaking up everything at launch. Even when it does not break you drop so many RPM's that your motor is way down in the power band once it gets moving. A controlled slip will allow you to get rolling while keeping your motor up in RPMs. If you look at some of the 1-2 year-old Leroy(Cleetus Mcfarlands No Body Corvette 4 speed) videos he went through this dilemma and found a controlled slipper clutch. His times improved tremendously and stopped most of the launch breakage. I enjoy your content, Great Job!

I have always ran a stick car. Never raced anything but a stick car. I make a lot of power with my new combo and my car is real heavy. The best setup I’ve found is a ram single disc. Adjustable pressure plate. Takes a little time to dial it in but when you do, it’s money !

The rear end is not straight in the car. You can tell by the launches. It always moves to the right. All of the Fox bodies from those years are crocked. The rear end is pointing to the right, left wheel more forward than the right. Fix that and it will go straight. Take a tape measure and measure from the front rim to the rear rim to see how far out it is, from side to side.
@MissMidnightMaverick
@MissMidnightMaverick Жыл бұрын
The rear end is straight.
@Dynodon64
@Dynodon64 Жыл бұрын
@@MissMidnightMaverick Let me put it another way. The rearend is not square to the center line of the car. If you look carefully at this video on all three launches, you will see the rear of the car go to right just after the hit. Then you will see your husband correct by turning the wheels to the right. If you have stock type of upper and lower control arms on the rearend hooked to the stock locations on the body, it's out of square. If you have adjustable arms then you can dial it out. If you intend on going faster with this car, it will get worse. Once you start lifting the front end high enough to take the weight of the tires, the whole car will head for the right, and you will really have to correct for that. Just pointing out, it's not straight. Take it or leave it, it doesn't matter to me. Be safe and good luck with the car.
@MissMidnightMaverick
@MissMidnightMaverick Жыл бұрын
@@Dynodon64 we do have previous videos of installing new upper and lower control arms and squaring up the rear end. Lucore also has a video of when we took the car to them and had them do a full alignment, front and rear to make sure the car is straight. We normally run a single disk organic clutch in the car, but had to change it while out of town and the only thing available was an unsprung puck style disc which creates a much harder launch and shocks the suspension (as well as everything else, obviously). If the car is going crooked while hooking, we wouldn’t immediately go to changing the geometry of the rear end, but instead we would apply more or less preload to the rear end with the ARB. It may not look like it, but we do know what we’re doing when it comes to suspension tuning and setting up a car. This mustang is our “fun” car, but we’ve also had/still have cars that run consistent 1.0x-1.1x 60’ times while maintaining a full factory steel body, factory glass, stock style suspension, one of them still being a leaf spring car. I appreciate the concern, but I promise we are not as inexperienced as we look.

2600-3000 lb PP with a McLeod 500 series disc and choke up on that clutch cable to fine tune the seat pressure. If your spinning and making bald spots keep choking up in that clutch cable till it hooks. Pull on the cable at the firewall with like medium Tony pressure and take up that slack. Then give it about a turn and a half counter clockwise and keep turning it counter clockwise one turn every hit till it hooks. If you can’t hear slight slip then it’s to much clutch.

@@avboysgrandpahollywoodhaven’t been 6.0 but have been 6.40’s. 3050lb, 4.56:1, 26.5” tire. Id start out with a 3000lb PP. you can start shimming the pp too but that becomes a lot of work. We ran a 3000 lb aluminum spec pp that ended up being shimmed .037”. Every run wears about .001 off the disc when it’s in it’s sweet spot and once it wears down .010 you have to take shim out. So to make the car as fast as can be you have to pull the trans every 10 runs and the clutch setup is an on going chase. Fun times… I’m not suggesting you do that. What do you have for gear and what’s the car weight.
