Smallhead here. I didn't realize right away that my snipe broke the game mode. I was wondering why the others seemed so shocked about the snipe. 11 I take half the credit along with Nuka. Was a fun game. Glad it made it to KZbin. 🙂

I have wanted to see the monument being destroyed since before DE came out! Thanks for bringing that on the menu. :) It is interesting that the game actually registers the change in the mode correctly and doesn't bug out. By the way, I was wondering whether the monument has destruction animation in DE as the other buildings or not. Now I know the answer, and the game turned to be exciting.

Blue played so well, esppecially considering that he lost allmost everything at one point. His only mistake I think is that he tried to defeat orange frist and then shifted his attention to purple, when he probably could just have rolled over purple on his way to orange. Also, I like feitoria. Shure: In the very late game it gives an advantage that seems unfair. But it does have a trade off due to the population efficiency, and you have to get to that stage of the game. So the others should have had this in mind and dealt with blue earlier.

Feitorias only worked here because Saint Arnulf was also very good at managing two fronts. He kept the pressure going even when he was being pushed and generally knew where to focus. I agree with your points, Feitorias are balanced well!

Technically possible but KOTH works by checking if the Monuments Captured player resource is EQUAL to 1. So you have to be careful to not have too many monuments... if only they used GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO instead of EQUAL TO

I didn't think of making them because they wouldn't do much against the organ guns. Otherwise, its was still lovely to play this game. I'm looking forward to the day I get a win posted on KZbin.

I feel like the problem was that Purple was not making any gold units except champions or siege. If we would have seen cavaliers or paladins then it would have been a completely different story. I think that Paladins and Champions would have decimated blue. I mean come on, 11k gold is enough for like 300 paladins

GoldenPincers here. I had no idea how to play Spanish, so I didn't know what I was doing and I felt like I played worse than the first time (where I had Incas, on the Burger map). I trapped myself into making too many gold units (siege, monks, conqs), which turned sour when teal's king destroyed the gold in the middle. When the monument was destroyed, I realized I had no chance since it had become a standard FFA, and there was no stopping blue. I traded all my food and stone for gold to make those BBC, in the hope I could pay him back, but alas. So in the end, I played worse than the first time, but ended up accomplishing more by virtue of the king explosion... I'll take it. GG blue, but I'll remember you! (Blue and I had indeed both been picked the week prior, but in different games. His game was before mine, so I already had a heads-up that he wasn't very diplomatic. True to his style, I guess, haha)

To solve the hearing when your speaking with headphones on. Get an usb audio interface. Plug your headphone and mic into the interface. The interface should have a dial to mix the direct sound from the mic and the sound from the computer. Mu behringer UMC404HD has this option (MIX knob).

15:30 T90, what you want is sidetone, most headphones have it or can use software for it, it basically loops your voice in real time through your mic so you can hear yourself speak normally. Correctly set up it shouldn't feel much different than just hearing yourself speak and it shouldn't amplify random sounds like mouse clicks. I have Logitech 432 but the software for it kinda sucks and I had to google for a way around when the sidetone just died for me on them. But yeah I have the same problem, with no sidetone I end up yelling like my long dead almost deaf great grampa did.

Combo King of the Hill and regicide - would a gamemode where you literally had to get the king onto a hill have any sort of traction? Central location/structure which the king has to be in range of for a relatively short timescale. Thematically the king has to ascend to the thone and sit there for long enough to hold dominion. Ensures that to win you either have to practically kill everyone or take a huge risk by exposing the king, or maybe have to hold, fortify and then occupy the centre. Adding in explosive kings means that any failures will immediately clear the central area so no fortifications can be reused.

Sick game for Arnulf of Metz! He has fought against double byzantines, which is peculiar. I think purple had good chances, he just didn't use the potential of the civ. He had enough gold to make a ball of onagers combined with cataphracts and skirms, maybe. And a couple of trebs, bbc against towers. Of course, blue played it so that it looked easy, making strong attacks against both opponents. But even with feitorias he had less gold than purple and definitely less than both Hymax and George Bot.

I just don't understand the reluctance to of switching what unites to throw out both threw wave after wave of infantry at a dude who has been using gun powder for like two hours and if they felt the need to keep using infantry at least switch some skirmishers.

Me and my friends used to do this game mode back in the day (before you could automate things, so it relied on fairness of play) However, it was called "Ring O Ring" (sometimes called Red Robin) You had 15 to 25 minutes "treaty" (before they were introduced in the game remember) where no one would kill to build up. Then we used to roll a 8 sided dice (you can tell we were D&D players), whichever landed on would be the first to defend. We then hit a timer of 10 minutes where the rest would try and kill that player. After 10 minutes whether they died or not, we go onto the next player to the first players Left hand side. We kept doing this until only two were left, where we used to do the best of three fights with any regular unit (no uniques). But sometimes we used to 1v1. Fun times

I think the combinatain of koth and exploding regicide is really interesting. focus is on the middle but you can get sniped and if the monument gets destroyed it suddenly shifts the focus onto a different area of the map halfway through the game. Imagine adding diplo

I dont play AoE2 so this is just theory. But if you were leading, perhaps you could move your king to the center, provided you had adequate protection, and in the event that they take the monument from you, preferably late game, you also lose your king. Thereby taking the monument with you and all their prep for KotH would be lost and they'd be forced into an FFA. Also, moving your king to the center can consolidate your defenses.

Depending on your audio drivers, you can enable "side tone" for your mic. It will feed your voice back through your speakers so that you can hear yourself. You can vary the volume gets sent back so that it doesn't overwhelm you.

By his description he might possibly buy JVC HA EB75 (the same ones I do, they also came out in 1997 which was the same year mp3 players came out) These used to 5 pounds a pop and last you a good 6 to 8 months. They are now 15 quid. So on today's money, your headphones are 275£, I can literally pay for 18 of JVC HA EB75 which would be 108 months (on the low side) worth of usage. (aka 9 years) Therefore, if those headphones don't last for 9 years or more, it is literally better to use JVCs eternally.

Also JVC are comfortably and easy to use. I recently made the mistake of going for a cheaper (9 pounds instead of 15) version but Panasonic. And they are like putting two spikes inside your ears. I only did this as I am running low on my banked up JVCs (now only about 25 left). PS yes I did buy around 50 in one go in 2002.
