Btw, guys. The translation doesn't convey everything ? Like, to start, if he wanted to say "stupid", he would have said "stupide", English borrowed that word. Instead, he used the word "con" and when we use that word, it's a very familiar way of speaking. We actually "insult" each other using it pretty damn often, actually, jokingly, tho. Surely you'd want to catch it on the bit that comes out a half inch just above the blade itself? I'd guess having a slot that the blade goes through, so the impact hits that portion instead of the sharp bit. Maybe use the rubber to take some of the impact out of it, and maybe have rubber on the base as a backup to stop it if it goes wrong. I think the biggest problem you'll have is that if it lands on its point, the blade is going to want to pivot on that point once it impacts. That will be putting a lot of force out into the sides of the guillotine (instead of all of the energy going downwards) that might damage it over time. I'm not sure how strong those carriage wheels will be under that amount of force (I suspect they'll be the point of failure eventually with that current stopping mechanism and the energy going into the sides of the guillotine).

@@iHeartUrMom2023 I'm an anglo in Quebec, and when I hear french people (from France) call something or someone stupid they often use this word "con" - except I know it's probably not spelt like that. How is it spelt, and what does it originally mean? I presume something to do with sex eh? I think maybe Quebecois francos use this word sometimes as well, but not nearly as often as I hear European (and African too I think) frenchmen say it, and I'd like to know what it is. I will say, as an anglo with French as his second language, I gotta say I much prefer the way Quebecois francos speak the language. Frenchmen always just sound... I dunno like the stereotype - pretentious, and the hard Rs really seem to overwhelm everything, and when you try and put on a European French accent it's like you naturally start to stick your nose up a bit. Quebecois francos speak french in a way that's so much more melodic and smooth, but at the same time more down in the gutter and low class (in like a good way). The way they cuss in France is just ridiculous, but the way they cuss here in Quebec is fantastic, so much so that even anglos here in Montreal who barely speak french at all still use the Quebecois cuss words. Hell even immigrants who mostly speak foreign languages - just the other day I overheard some folks speaking Urdu to each other but with "tabarnak" mixed in there. "Ben voyons calisse, t'es un osti d'cave tabarnak!" sounds better than any of that "putain" or "con" nonsense. France french cussing and English cussing seems to be all about sexual stuff, which is kinda lame, whereas nearly all the Quebec swearing is pure catholic blasphemy (tabarnacle, christ, host, chalice) which I find really cool and unique.
