This week Elli and I were hired on as our duck's home renovation contractors ;) and it was such a great break from some of the bigger renovations we've been working on in our own home... I can't help but find myself wanting to build a bigger scale A-Frame now but something tells me it wouldn't go quite as well as making this little house did. As for last week's poll, Elli and I are JUST about ready to click CHECK OUT on our kitchen order and we'll hopefully be sharing that project very, very soon! In the mean time we'll be tackling some more outdoor projects including the duck pond before it gets delivered. I hope you guys enjoy the video! Wishing all of you well. :)

I know what you mean about how green things are in Europe... I've seen quite a few ecosystems on earth, but my favourite hands-down, is always the deciduous woodland ecosystems of Europe, and their meadows filled with wildflowers - in parts. There is nothing that beats dappled shade, the rustling of leaves in the wind, followed by autumnal splendor. It's exquisite. I cannot get over how adorable the ducks are; their little night house is magical. 😊❤

The garden looks beautiful. You girls are rockin' it. I suggest you buy one of those kiddie plastic shaped wading pools for the ducks. They will love it until you can build their pond. The duck house turned out so nice. I think you should have made it bigger. The ducks are going to get bigger and things are going to get crowded.

As a painter and decorator I can confirm the rags need to be laid flat and air dried outside is better, on stone or metal ( something that won't set of fire if it did start to burn) also the nettle thing is also true, as a child and then adult living in uk nettles were a main thing around us as we lived in the countryside. and we used nettles for assorts of things, including making tea. loving the duck house, enjoying these videos Maddie

Maddie, you aren't crazy to be sketched out by the grinder. Those cutting discs can break and fling shards everywhere (though that's unlikely on a soft material like wood or the corrugated metal you're cutting). I have seen pictures of some wicked injuries. You should at least wear eye protection, and ideally one of those full face visors. A leather apron over a denim jacket wouldn't be a bad idea either. The duck houses are looking great, though! It's so cool to see young people doing all this DIY work. There's a saying, "being useless is a luxury for the rich." I think you two have that beat :)

Pro pond builder here. Ducks create a huge amount of waste in a pond. Requiring a very large filter. I’d suggest a container they can splash in then easily drain the water and water your plants with it. I know the idea sounds great but finding a way to remove duck poo ain’t pretty.

I always had a little plastic toddler pool for my ducks. 15 bucks! They loved it and easy to dump.

We have a rescue duck, and the kiddy pools are great. They do need a good clean and they kiddie pools are easy and cheap

I apologise for my absence, but during an air-sea rescue, the cable I was suspended from broke. The impact into the sea hospitalised me, but I'm back now and so happy to see you and Elli again. 😃 Your farmhouse looks wonderful, perfect for you both, and the ducks are just so cute. If you ever decide on a wood burning stove, make sure your chimney flue gets a stainless steel liner. Burning wood and / or coal is cheaper than other energy costs, and a flat-top stove means you can cook on it; handy in a power cut. Oh, and that wooden parquet floor is beautiful! please consider keeping it. Wishing all the very best to you both, Wendi 🌻🌻🌻

That miter saw angle hack is great! If you have to make many cuts, you could make a jig big enough to clamp down for more stability

Carpenter tip: If you want to cut a 60-degree cut, set it to 30 degrees. The remaining piece will be a 60-degree cut. (90-30=60) No little wedge is required.

The smaller place will be better in the Winter for the ducks so it’s easier to keep their body temperature up. During the Summer is when a larger place would allow greater heat dispersion.

Loving the duck House but if I was you I'd put some of the galvanised sheet that you used for the roof on the bottom of the feet to try and protect the wood from the wet ground. (Feet of the house, not the ducks BTW 😂)
