Hey everyone back with more Scrap Mechanic Survival! Today Kosmo and I are working on a new elevated track system for transporting our boat across land into the ocean! Our current base is actually on a lake so we need a system to move water vehicles from the base lake to the ocean itself! ‪@darealkosmo‬

You should have one fuel tank going to the outer thrusters and the other fuel tank to the inner thrusters so that way if you run out of fuel on one tank it wouldn’t make you steer to one side

Do you mean adding a second tank? Cause if so, that's a logistics nightmare. You have to deal with weight for both buoyancy and for thrust re-striking the perfect balance while also making sure the part actually fits in the boat and while still keeping the new form factor cemetrical. The weight is the issue. More weight = more fuel consumption. If it wasn't for that, I'd agree with you.

@@Hadeks_Marow I think he means connect the two outer thrusters to one fuel tank, and the two interior thrusters to the other fuel tank (there are already two fuel tanks in the boat)... So when the fuel runs out on either tank you still have a balanced thrust instead of it being the two left or two right that are out. Right now the tank on the right is connected to the thrusters on the right, and left to left.

@@Hadeks_Marow they have the two left thrusters connected to the left tank, and two right thrusters connected to the right tank. That's why it pitches left or right when one of the tanks run out of fuel. If they went with Caboose's suggestion they'd just lose half the thrust, but it would be easier to keep steering since the remaining thrust would still be balanced.

I said this before but I'll say it again. In the warehouse are hatches, that close the vents on the last floor. They are made with square mesh block (friction 2, lowest in the game so far), you can get those hatches very easily and add square mesh to the bottom of the boat, it will allow you to slide across the ground. This way you won't even use any fuel to cross any land because your momentum should be enough to get you across. You should try that, 3 blocks is all you need.

How do you get the hatches out of the warehouse? Do they disconnect and can be hammered to the elevator? Windshield pieces can be easily made and also 2 friction. A bathtub is also 2 friction.

You could make the boat to a landspeeder by putting low friction grid blocks under the boat. That would make it go faster and pick up speed much easier than just sliding on the ground.

If you want to farm component kits build two small single-thruster flyers and fly from ruin to ruin. It's much faster than walking or driving.

@@danser_theplayer01 You don't need that for a simple flyer. Standard suspension glitches for turning are enough. There's plenty of step-by-step tutorials on youtube if you don't know how too, though i'd be surprised if Kan can't do it on his own. There's simply no point farming component kits the slow way once you have enough for your first level 5 thruster.

If you want wheels, you could have 4 pistons on each bottom corner of the boat, and extend them by 1 block. Then attach an elbow mini-pipe, a bearing, and a 1x1 pipe. Then you could use the thrusters on land to cross to other bodies of water.

You messed that one up in your head. The pistons are going down, yes? Then how do you rotate the pipes 90 degrees to face sideways if the pistons are going dowards. You would need a tiny corner pipe attached to the piston and the bearing to the tiny corner pipe. By making it the tiny variant of the corner pipe it means it won't drag on the ground with the normal size pipe.

"Attach the 1x1 pipe on each piston with bearings" makes it sound like you want to attach the pipe DIRECTLY to the piston using a barring. And when you say it like that, it makes you sound like a crazy person. It didn't help that you didn't clarify that the pistons should be facing down either. Remember, this is kan we are talking about. He's not the best with reading our advice so we gotta be extra blunt and clear with him on what we actually mean. Otherwise he will do it wrong and blame us for it as he is known to do.

The switch to the boat elevator should be on the part that lowers so it can actually function as an elevator. You use the switch to get up and down where you don't raise the elevator back up after you drop off the boat. Getting up is the issue of immersion that I can see. Chair ladder teleporting should not need to be a thing in order for you to use your boat ELEVATOR. You should be able to lift the crane without jumping off the boat by just pressing the switch and then just ride the boat up to get to the other seat. Slightly more reasonable for single-pilot use as well that way.

The support beam looking blocks make great skis for boats and other thruster vehicles on land. i use a dual thruster design with suspension skis and 4 chests to do looting.

If you put lower friction blocks on the bottom you will have amphibious water-ground boat. It's realistic, there are "hovering" vehicles that go on land and water.

About the realism of tier 3 wood being lighter than normal wood - Metal generally offers more stability per mass or volume, which is why hollow metal table legs are so popular with cheap tables. So I think it's reasonable to think that tier 3 wood actually uses some of the additional stability provided by the metal to incorporate air pockets.

I think you can make your vehicle locking system look nicer by building a platform, then place a single block onto that platform then, on the side of the tire near the bottom, weld that to the side of the single block. This way, the wheels will actually be on a flat surface/on the ground and the 1 single block can look like a parking boot/wheel clamp/wheel lock (those things traffic cops put on tires to make it so the car can't drive). To drive, just delete the wheel boot. You can even make the wheel boot be a caution block for esthetics. A floor and a single block. . . that's all you need. . . . not a pillar. . . pillars are ugly.

You could put the thrusters on 2 switches so you can drive on fuel-safing mode if u are running out of fuel. Also i think you just need to hook up the center thrusters to the same fuel canister (the other 2 to the other fuel can) and if u run low just put all the fuel in only 1 canister

Put 4 sensors on the boat mover. 2 in fron and 2 in the back. Let's say sensor "a" is pond side activation "A" is ocean side activation, "b" is pond detection and "B" is ocean detection. "a" and "b" point towards the pond, and "A" and "B" point towads the ocean. If i haven't made it clear, the sensors are on the thing, that drives on the rails. When "a" gets an imput, it drives forwards until "B" gets an imput. When "A" gets an imput, it drives backwards until "b" gest an imput. put a button on the rail on each side, and make them rotate a bearring, on each side, that will trigger "a" if the rail vehicle is on the pond side, and "A" if it's on the ocean side. This way, you can call and send the rail vehicle fom either side, and if you die while traveling with the main boat, and you have a corpse retrieval speed boat (boatguette), you won't have to take the land route.

Two tips to improve the system: 1) Put pipes under the rail to grab it so it doesn't jump or derail if you hit it 2) Add some logics and sensors in the front and in the rear and one to detect if the crane is lifted... A button in the crane and when you press it, it raise the crane. When the "top" sensor is detected, then it checks which sensor is active (front or rear) and then activate a motor to spin the wheels to one way until the opposite sensor activates, then stop and then it lowers the crane and done, it's automated and bidirectional. I can make you a logic diagram if you want, no pay, don't worry, I just enjoy automate things :) [EDIT] I've just see that you already used the first tip :/

You have each fuel canister for each side of thrusters, but set it up so that one canister does the inside thrusters and one the outside, so that, if like at the start, one runs out of fuel, you still have equal thrust to both sides, other than one side active and the other not...

I built a boat that is half of yours but use just one thruster and 3 logic gates and it's way more efficient to travel with it. Making 2 even smaller boats will be the thing to do the adventure.

I've seen that water is not on a same plane everywhere. I had this one world where there was a large lake on top of a hill and right beside it a cliff face down towards the ocean shore. I've seen this only once, so apparently it is very rare.

Carrier project is cancelled but i turned it to a monorail/metro/freight system project metro for going to the warehouses and stuff, freight is for carrying fruit crates and farmers. Since there are wedges now its much easier to make a curve track!
