I love how you are including Eleanor in all of the chores. What she knows about chickens is amazing, especially at such a young age. I love the banners in the big New Coop.

Suggested by Jason and Brooke to subscribe to your channel. So happy I did! Your daughter is the most adorable and knowledgeable child for her age. Like you said 5 going on 26. Your coop is beautiful, those lucky chickens to be able to live in that darling place. Excited to follow the rest of your adventutes.

Thank you Charles! We're so glad it's finally finished. The chickens have been loving it for over a month. Can you guess what they did the first big storm we had? Yup, found the one spot that the rain could get in and got wet. (They dried off quickly) haha That's chickens for ya! - Jaclyn

I love that you are using recycled materials wherever possible and do your best to ensure all potentially harmful metal scraps are collected up. (If you watch 'The Hoof GP' you will find several videos showing what happens when a cow treads on such stuff.) Just a thought, if you can find some guttering and a tote you have a potential water collector in that roof.

Eleanor is such a bright young lady. She will be so much more advanced than other children her age. Her vocabulary is off the charts! I know you are proud of her. The old saying the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree…is so true here. You guys set such a good example of work ethic and the power of a job well done. I’m a new subbie from Jason and Brooke’s channel Cog Hill. I have spoken to you via text message about possibly getting my starter chickens for my new flock. I did order from Murry McMurry and will be getting my new chicks on April,25th. I have watched your girls here on KZbin and hopefully I will be able to order from you in the near future. I am located in Hueytown Alabama and hope to meet you soon. I really enjoy your channel and watching Eleanor introduce all the different birds. God Bless!

Love the look of the fence boards! Curious about the tarp..is that so you can pull the old shavings out easily?
@HeadFamilyFarm2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Bill! I wanted that weathered western look and I can't wait to get some beds put in the front. I'm planning for herbs. Yes, you are exactly right about the tarp and oh has it been a game changer for us. We do this in every coop that we can. It started in "The Chick Cottage". No more shoveling. We'll have a video highlighting this soon! - Jaclyn

How can you tell a hen from a Rooster with Silkies I can't tell them apart thank you I just found you and I subscribed
@HeadFamilyFarm2 жыл бұрын
Hi Brenda, it's not easy to tell them apart and most have to wait until they crow or lay an egg. A few things I've learned to look for: watch the comb color and growth - females will typically maintain the same comb size from a month old on, males will get larger and get a pink or cranberry tint. Another is their head crest - females will be rounded and more even, males will have "streamers" that mainly trail out of the back above the other head crest feathers but sometimes stick out around top too. I've also gotten better recently at telling the difference in the sounds they make, young, when picked up - males have a deeper tone and more irregular sound (think a quite crow) and females will make a trill or raspy squawk. No matter what I can't start to really guess with this breed until a month old. - Jaclyn

The u tube I’m a survivor sanctuary had people sent them flags and they hung them up in the barn, wasp 🐝 made homes in back of the flags, so they had to take them all down, I hope you don’t have that problem in your cute pigeon coop. If you have questions you can email Lester

Very interesting! We have more Mud Dobbers than wasps, though they do like our barn. We will keep a close watch. Thank you!
