This is an excellent cause, kudos to you Pete, Alex and crew. To the people making negative comments, I'm sure it's easy for you to sit there and type something, but it's not so easy to put yourself out there and perform selfless acts. I'm just going to assume that every negative comment comes from a place of displeasure with your own life and jealousy that someone is doing what you can't. I hope things get better for you.

I have two nephews with autism, and my job is supporting adults with autism and learning disabilities. My oldest nephew has spent a good six years playing the drums, and it really does help him. And when I take people with severe learning difficulties, or conditions like Downes Syndrome to a lunch club where they can sing at karaoke, some who struggle with verbal communication join in their own way with percussion instruments such as tamborines. And it brings them so much joy to be taking part, and sensory comfort in beating out a rhythm. A large part of the reason for the rise in autism cases is largely down to more recognition of the condition. It's why autism is recognised as a spectrum, as it's such a wide variety of conditions. I rarely ever encounter two people who have autism with the exact same conditions. There are behaviours that even 30 years ago such as emotional outbursts or inability to engage in social interaction, which would have been considered purely symptoms of schizophrenia, OCD, bipolar disorder, ADHD, depression, etc. As more of those symptoms have been linked to an autism diagnosis, the number of other diagnosis as purely the other conditions has dropped in children. Massive kudos to you Pete for the donation, and helping this kind of charity. And as well as Alex for doing everything he does to help children. All the best from Scotland.

God bless you Peter! Thank you for supporting autism charities sincerely. I had a cousin who had fairly severe autism. Unfortunately at about 15 years old he took his own life. People with that disability can be brilliant, but they are suppressed by their illness. My cousin was a very sweet and quiet kid who kept to himself. He was basically a savant, with the subject of American Presidents. He could tell you facts off the top of his head about any American President unlike most political enthusiasts. He was a great kid but I think school was very difficult for him. He had few friends that he connected with… and his parents divorced around then. Unfortunately his live in grandmother, kept an old .38 revolver in her nightstand. And one morning exasperated by having to go to school at 15 he took his life with that gun… all I can say is folks please keep your self defense weapons in a locked safe! Autism is a heartbreaking condition especially for their families members. Who struggled to keep him happy and educated for most of his life sadly. Programs like this Drums for Autistic People. Could be life changing if not life saving. Some people with autism are really quite intelligent. Yet they are held back by their illness condition. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Pete for supporting autism charities. God bless you and God bless the Autistic people whom are helped by these kinds of charities. I’m currently unemployed or I would send you all a donation… sorry about the sad story. But my late cousin Kyle was a great person. And I think a program like that can really help autistic people expand their horizons… I know my aunt and uncle struggled with keeping him engaged in life. God bless your efforts to help them thank you sincerely. -Justin 🙏❤️✝️

This episode was especially emotional for me. This man had a lot to say and I think it took me a bit to finally understand it's all coming straight from his heart. My father was a drummer and got me into being a musician has a teenager. He passed away suddenly 9.5 years ago. Now I'm a middle school math teacher and I decided as a side project to make a rock band out of my students. My dad bought me my first guitar and i've been a guitar player for 20 years now but I always appreciated drumming. I found affordable equipment around my local area and paid out of my own pocket to have the gear needed for my students. I recently restored and donated a drum kit to the drummer in our band who is up and coming as a naturally gifted musician. I think what gets missed sometimes is that the ability to give to someone so worthy of the gift brings the giver just as much happiness as the receiver. I have received such a bit of praise for my donations but really I almost feel guilty taking that praise because giving brings me just as much joy. Long-winded, I know, but this all just happened and here I see this episode of Craigslist Hunter and now i'm inspired even more to continue doing more. Thank you for this very special episode! Tis the season!

Pete my wife has an accreditation in Autism and we both worked with children on the autistic spectrum for about 15yrs,not niw though. To see this all coming together is amazing. And the increase in Autism must in some way be put down to diet and food manufacturers, i wish you all the best and wish this clip would go viral, i will be following the links. Best of luck from Cumbria England.🎉
@rider7949Ай бұрын
I'm diagnosed with autism, and first off, I really want to thank you both for the incredible work you've done over the years. As for the increase in autism diagnoses, what would you say about it perhaps being caused by an increase in tolerance and understanding of those with different needs? In living memory, we had barbaric and repressive practices such as lobotomies, hiding disabled people in asylums, and "troubled teen" programs for kids who simply acted differently. I personally grew up in a very conservative and traditional environment where my teachers would just bully me for the autism traits I showed and I never got any help until much later in life.
@andrewdarowski1975Ай бұрын
@@rider7949 yeah, I think that awareness is the single biggest issue in the increase in diagnoses. I work with disabled and neuro divergent refugee children, and even in the last five years I've seen a big difference in consciousness around autism and other neuro divergences.
@joegardiner394Ай бұрын
There is zero evidence that autism is caused or exacerbated by diet. I highly doubt you're qualified to make such a claim, unless you can link studies proving otherwise?

But please keep it to yourself. you are the only one who made this about religion. There is nothing wrong with an act of kindness being secular. Secular doesn't means "anti-god", it just means that we aren't bringing up religion. Are you really not able to do that, to give people that respect? Cause if not, that's a problem in you. You know other people have different opinions and beliefs, right? All we are asking is you respect that by keeping the religious part of your comment to yourself unless the guy in the video brings it up 1st. Can you do that please? I'm asking you, human to human. 🙂 ☆ Its hard to tell someone's intentions thru a YT comment so I'm telling you point blank that I'm not being sarcastic or hateful or condescending.
