Just completed my first 1.0 run the other day. I was doing a quickness build with triple jointed and multiple arms. I don't know if you've ever mentioned this before, but staying on hungry / thirsty really helps when you need to chug urberries without getting sick. I always wondered why you did it lol. Without giving any spoilers, there seems to be quite a few endings you can go for and the last part of the game is pretty interesting. Killed my first chrome pyramid too, it was a good run with a lucky high level dromad in my stilt. Excited to see the rest of this series, I might shill the 5 bucks for early access lol. My vote is boring for the neutron flux and to not use it. Would be a big sad to end the run on that note this far in.

Is there no way to get precognition on this character, and to save neutron flux for that?

The enemies you'll find in Historic Sites are related to the Lore for the Sultan that the site belongs to. I haven't been paying close enough attention to remember which sites are tied to which sultan in this run but its very likely that at least two of them are dedicated to a Sultan who was on good terms with insects. Don't cook with the flux, save it till you get access to precog. Losing the run now would be sad

I don't think we'll get to the point where we have enough spare mutation points to get precognition, not to mention there's a huge amount of rng for which mutations you're offered.

I believe that a book's exp value is tied directly to its economic value, which is why the relics are worth so much exp and are worth ludicrous amounts when from higher tier relic sites. The illuminated mod increases its value so should increase the exp awarded.

Yeah, it's hard to find weapons with no PV cap. For Cudgels I think the only one is the Fist of the Ape God. It's a good one, but very heavy, and you have to have some luck to get it.

FWIW you can follow albino apes in the jungle to consistently find Oboroqoru. They are on a pilgrimage to him. I've done it on a few runs when I didn't get the secret from legendary apes.

​@@TheFeralFerretIt is one of the possible methods, yes! I used it a few times, but others it wasn't too easy as they constantly got distracted by enemies or just didn't wander at all. Seems it has to be specifically those on a pilgrimage and I'm not sure how common they are. But then there's also the second part of the luck process... Oboroqoru's reputations. The effect is magnified for him, so you're usually stuck with only one option. If it's ritual, all good, you can recruit him and have him get into an unfortunate accident. If it's defeat, well... that can be somewhat difficult, dude's strong.

I am a few hours into my artifex playthrough, just got tinkering III, I took 16 in everything but int to bring that to 27 (currently all 17, int 29 lv6). Any advice on getting an advantage through that? I got a chrome revolver from flatlining an arconaut, so Im free to use any long guns for turrets, and I have scrapper, reverse engineer and whatnot. I took the linear cannon bp from my tinker III level so I could hopefully start building them to put in turrets eventually. Any suggestions? Also loving the qud content, I just listen and break that down into knowledge for my playrhrough.

There are two issues with that strategy. The first is that, while you could learn to make some crazy good stuff, you will not have the bits to craft it unless you make a beeline for the Yd Freehold and survive the trip. The other is that you'll end up with lots of excess Int from the general +1 to all stats at levels 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42 and 48. That's 7 points that could have gone into other stats, except since you paid double for all that Int at character creation, that's actually 10+ points you lost in other stats. Normally you want to get that 29 Int at a later level, when you can actually benefit from it.

Starting with a 23 Int Artifex is pretty good. It gives 29 Int by level 18 if you put 3 points in it. If you find a schematic for anti-gravity boots or night-sight Interpolators, you can dismantle a sphere of negative weight for a 7-bit. There is a guaranteed sphere along the underground river halfway between Red Rock to Joppa

Currently ~12 hours in and my playstyle has become hiding behind turrets and jacking up DV. I am just past rust wells and have made it to the stilts. I am level 14, i have swipe so turrets are nearly infinitely reusable. Currently gunning for micromanipulator array so I can tinker in combat.

if you play a run long enough, you'll probably find the schematic for gas tumber on a merchant, especially if the stilt generates a schematics merchant. you need tinkering II to make it though.

Have you ever tried a high DV build? I found it super good. Pushing 20+ DV and I was hit so rarely I could afford to tank the few that landed easily.

I have moved towards DV in the late game a number of times, however I don't like to go full DV as there are some attacks that don't miss or have an AoE from late game enemies. I think it's important to keep a good balance if possible

I do not have precog and you only get precog from sphynx salt if you're a truekin

I always wonder why you say you don't like light manipulation, I have found it to be incredibly reliable as a super long range and accurate weapon and even into late game can have really high penetration values, especially on an esper. A few points into it and your ego mod on top is usually enough to make it quite deadly. I think you might be sleeping on that mutation.

I mostly say it not to annoy people in the comminty. It's pretty decent with the unlimited range but I wish it did a little more damage against tougher enemies!

I have a question. Why do you take heightened quickness over photosynthetic skin. They both grant +2 to quickness each level but photosynthetic also has the natural healing bonus.

I'm guessing it's because he knows he rarely remembers to Bask. Also, if at some point he wants to use a combination of other foods, they will override the Photosynthetic Skin bonuses, while the Heightened Quickness bonus is always active no matter what.

Like Bob said, it's because sometimes I forget to bask, but now that I have fasting way it is much better. Also the +2 QN from heightened quickness is obviously permanent. I probably will start to focus more on photo skin going forward.
