I know the feeling on “Concrete Pour Day”! It’s the most exciting day in our family owned home building company. Our son has taken over and now he takes his kids out of school (like we did) on concrete day. We taught our kids the love we had for building and how hard work pays off. Our grandson was so excited he didn’t sleep well the night before. Congratulations!

You guys are amazing. I have been watching a lot of your earlier videos and Its hard to do anything else as they have dominated my life at the moment. I'm a 73 year old New Zealander who struggles to do a lot of stuff that I used to do owing to arthritis and I have to ask my wife to help me with tasks these days. We have been married for 51 years and in this day and age its good to hear you are a married couple. So I wish you well with all your projects.

I beat you by 2 years! I‘m 75 y/o living in Mallorca and am presently binge watching from the beginning and having a good time watching the amazing accomplishments so far. And you are right: seeing a young married couple not afraid to get their hands dirty (and with a background to not being afraid of technical as well as electrical and digital tasks) is heartwarming! That is the can do attitude I learned back in 1966 when I graduated from high school in Florida (as an exchange student from Germany). It‘s good to see that spirit is still alive (I have kept it all my live).

Yea,it's great having an actual garage floor ! All your hard work paid off ! Yup, "Winter is coming ". It comes fast ! Prepare that road for snow and water ! Is your " electrical room" winter ready ? Keep up the good work ,you too are a great team. are you going to build a lumber room ? All you need is a roof and 3 walls. something to protect your lumber from the snow and rain, give it a chance to dry out. Something simple. Thanks for the drone footage, people need to see all the work you did on the road.

I know that is a relief to get the concrete poured. Rileys comments about his unease(?) with subcontracting out the concrete ring very true. Back in the day, I swung a hammer and bent nails as a framer, work some finish work and even drywall. Now I manage construction projects and have always enjoyed watch and learning from the various trades that I supervised. It's never as easy as it looks. My big take away is that there are somethings that are absolutely worth subcontracting. Concrete is one of those. Bad pour will haunt you for a long time and it's not an easy once to fix; unlike ripping out a bad framing job or repairing a bad taping job. You now know much more about pouring concrete than you did before. Curiosity and a willingness to try is an attribute that we all need to develop.

Hello from the Netherlands . congratulations on the fact that the concrete was poured and therefore also that you have made the road right. When pouring concrete you always have either too little or too much. so always prepare a pouring mold in advance for the concrete surplus. this can be something as simple as that step at your door. or you can make a step or a generator plate like that . just take a sheet of plywood with wooden beams screwed to it and you have a loose mobile concrete mold that you can quickly place anywhere to fill. keep in mind that in a loose concrete mold you actually collapse upside down. so the bottom IN the mold actually becomes the top of your concrete. but you can also take advantage of this. because if you, for example, make wooden letters in mirror image and screwed them onto the bottom plate of your mold, then you have, for example, poured your initials into the concrete. thanks for the video AS . Sincerely, Hollandduck

I had to almost laugh but really smirk a bit to see such a young couple get so excited about something as routine as a concrete delivery! However, upon reflection, I fully understand. My construction and major project days are many decades behind me now, as turning 80 last April will attest. I know the feeling of excitement when hard work and meticulous planning results in a job/project well done. Never loose that joy. However, I’ll bet that concrete slab is only the pavement of a long road yet to be traveled.

Yes - one has to know when to get help. - they hadn't have any experience - the job has to be done in one, or max. 2 days. BUT there is so much to do during that day - simply much more work than 2 persons could do. So IMHO that was the only good decision.
@kennyronful2 жыл бұрын
I was glad to see a slab-on-grade with curing compound applied after finishing. It seals in the mix water so the concrete reaches it's design strength as it cures. It makes a difference and it apparently is not used by most people / contractors on videos like KZbin.

Take the landing experience as a learning curve the mason’s that do this work day in and out are worth every penny. As a landscape contractor I always said you want “A” grade work you higher the right amount of finishers you will get what you pay for. One finisher for every 200-250 sq ft of slab to be finished and you won’t have to do it over again.Good job by the concrete Co to do a dry/H20 run up the new road.Love when a plan comes together even 2 months late the double wide work was exciting !
