@TheJorrry, no, Christianity has its own set of problems with its instituted patriarchy and oppression of women as well. It is not as severe as this version of Islam in its most extreme form, but you get the idea. Christianity has had tons of bloodshed committed in the name of Jesus or God and it has its own set of morals and values that Christians use to weaponize against various classes of people too. People who practice Islam will tell you there are extreme factions of their religion and that there is another form of it which is peaceful and does not condone the type of hatred and extremism that groups like the taliban practice. The new morality law consists of 35 articles, many of which target women. Women are required to fully cover their faces and bodies when in public and are banned from wearing "transparent, tight, or short" clothing. The law also bans women from raising their voices or singing in public. Women must also be accompanied by a male chaperone when they leave their homes and cannot use public transport without a male companion. The law forbids unrelated adult men and women from looking at each other in public. Men must also dress modestly, even when playing sports or exercising. They are prohibited from shaving or trimming their beards. Men are also compelled to attend prayers as well as fast during the holy Islamic month of Ramadan.

A 24-year-old woman was raped by three migrants in Mannheim in 2016. She first claimed that her assailants were German nationals. Later she admitted she had lied because she didn’t want to “help fuel aggressive racism.” She went so far as to write an open letter to her rapists and apologized to them. Here is the excerpt that Murray includes: “I wanted an open Europe, a friendly one. One that I can gladly live in and one in which we are both safe in. I am sorry. For us both I am so incredibly sorry. You, you aren’t safe here, because we live in a racist society. I, I am not safe because we live in a sexist society. But what truly makes me feel sorry, are the circumstances by which the sexist and boundary-crossing acts that were inflicted on me, make it so that you are beset by increasing and more aggressive racism. I promise you, I will not stand by idly and watch as racists and concerned citizens call you a problem. You are not the problem. You are not a problem at all. You most often are a wonderful human being, who deserves to be free and safe like everyone else.”

I can understand her. Stockholm syndrome is a normal psychological defense mechanism. The horrible violence she had to endure, and the self-blame she must feel because of her former attitude which probably seems a mistake to her now, but it is not. Her former good will towards the asylum seekers is a morally good deed in a Christian society, and people who did not deserve it took advantage of it, insulting and violating her and the whole Western society at the same time. Victims of sexual or other deeply traumatizing violence usually blame themselves, because it makes them feel safer and more in control, as if they would have been able to prevent it. Shame and guilt serve the purpose of psychological survival. In this case she is turning the thing around in a Stockholm syndrome type of reaction, deluding herself as if the perpetrator were the actual victim. She is in denial to reduce the pain that is unbearable. I think I might have had the same reaction if I were in her situation. When traumatized people report crimes immediately after the fact it is often incoherent. They don´t remember things in the normal, linear way and details can be left unsaid or altered. It is because of the dissociation, not that they would be lying deliberately. The effects of trauma on the brain can make it difficult for victims to get justice. They should be given time and psychological support, but it is often not available. I hope the perpetrators are in jail, but probably they got away... Only a fraction of all rapes are reported, and only a small number of those reported lead to a jail sentence. Many men from Moslem countries have misogynistic attitudes and the safety of women has declined since the mass immigration started. This woman is one of many.

The current situation in Afghanistan is a direct consequence of the United States' shortsighted and counterproductive policies in the region. In the early 1960s, Vice President Nixon's visit to Afghanistan presented an opportunity for the US to support Prime Minister Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan's efforts to counter Soviet influence and establish a pro-Western government. However, the US showed no interest, paving the way for a pro-Soviet government to take power. Decades later, as the pro-Soviet government consolidated power, the US supported the Afghan people in their fight against the Soviet Union, only to abandon them again after the Soviet withdrawal. This pattern of neglect has led to significant problems for both countries. Following the 9/11 attacks, the US invaded Afghanistan despite the Taliban's pleas to negotiate. After 20 years of war, resulting in immense loss of life and resources, the US has finally recognized that negotiation is the only viable solution - essentially returning to the starting point. The critical question remains: has anyone been held accountable for these mistakes, and what lessons have been learned? It seems that history has repeated itself, with little to no accountability or constructive change.

@@benschlotte8242 Donald Trump ended his term in office just as he started it: lying about being “anti-war.” During the 2016 election campaign, Trump rose to the top of a crowded Republican primary field by styling himself an insurgent outsider. A key component of this rebrand was the repeated insistence that he stood alone in the field as being anti-war. Claiming (without evidence) that he had opposed the invasion of Iraq, Trump lambasted the bipartisan foreign policy establishment for its decades of disastrous militarism. For a war-weary nation desperate for change, this was evidence enough that Trump would be different. The “anti-war” label stuck, and it would be repeated over and over, up to the very final days of his presidency. But with four years of accumulated evidence all pointing in the same direction, it’s time to kill this myth once and for all. Sure, Donald Trump didn’t launch a new all-out ground invasion on the scale of Iraq. But he did escalate conflict in every theatre of war he inherited, repeatedly brought the country to the brink of new wars, and recklessly threw around U.S. power with no regard for the many lives it would cost. The “anti-war” candidate, like those before him, was a pro-war president. Escalating Inherited Wars - Despite repeated PR stunts, Trump did not “bring the troops home” or “end endless wars.” In fact, Trump consistently added fuel to the fire, increasing troop levels, deepening reliance on private contractors, and dramatically scaling up aerial warfare. Where an end to endless war requires repealing the 2001 and 2002 Authorizations for Use of Military Force, Trump expanded conflicts under both. His term saw four consecutive years of growth of an already out-of-control Pentagon budget. And loosening even the minimal restrictions that were already in place, he expanded the United States’ deadly and unaccountable drone wars. Not only did Trump not end the wars he promised to, he worsened them, dropping more bombs, stoking further conflict, undermining the prospects of peace, and massively increasing the rate of civilian deaths. All in on Yemen - U.S. support for the Saudi- and UAE-led intervention in the war in Yemen is one of the most egregious examples of destructive militarist foreign policymaking in years. Not only did Trump do nothing to end U.S. complicity himself, he repeatedly used his veto power to override bipartisan majorities in Congress that tried to stop U.S. military involvement and block the flow of arms to the conflict. “Maximum Pressure” - Trump’s foreign policy was characterized above all by an aversion to diplomacy and a knee-jerk reliance on hostility. Attacking diplomatic relations and torpedoing successful multilateral agreements like the Iran nuclear deal, Trump instead tried to strongarm other countries into doing his bidding through threatening rhetoric, military brinkmanship, and suffocating sanctions. The result? Not a single one of Trump’s targets for hybrid warfare is any closer to doing his bidding now than when he started (often for the best). In the meantime, countless thousands have suffered the consequences. Brought to the Brink - On multiple occasions, this hostile posture almost ignited all-out war. It was hardly a year ago that Trump’s illegal assassination of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani brought our countries to the brink of catastrophe. Ultimately, it was the pressure of mobilization by millions of people across the United States, Iran, and beyond, combined with restraint from the Iranian government, that averted that disaster. Trump deserves no praise for the fact that a crisis of his own creation didn’t spiral further out of control.
@JunkerOnDrums4 ай бұрын
@@benschlotte8242 Nuclear War - Trump shredded the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, withdrew from the Open Skies Treaty that ensured transparency between the U.S., much of Europe, and Russia, and failed to extend the critical New START Treaty with Russia. He took an inconsistent, self-serving, and often antagonistic approach to negotiations with North Korea that nearly took us to nuclear war. Oh, and he wanted to nuke hurricanes. In short: the world is closer to nuclear war than it was before Trump took office. The War at Home - Communities of color have suffered under the thumb of police violence and “security” surveillance since well before Trump. But Trump took these wars even further, escalating Islamophobia, terrorizing migrants and asylum-seekers at the Southern border, violently repressing racial justice protesters, and so much more. But these points are just the highlights. From selling weapons to dictators, to trying to launch a new drone war in Kenya, to stoking a Cold War with China, the list of reasons Trump is undeserving of the “anti-war” title is endless. The roots of U.S. military violence extend far beyond Trump, but there can be no doubt: Donald Trump’s foreign policy legacy is nothing but violence, suffering, and conflict. Trump’s undeserved label is attributable to a basic but insidious mistake. For decades, U.S. foreign policy has been motivated by the belief in a U.S.-underwritten world order: The United States would be the supreme global power. It would use its power to create a rules-based system of liberal capitalist global governance (though the United States itself would largely be exempt from those rules). It would then promote and protect this order by the barrel of a gun. To commentators unable to see beyond this ideology, the fact that Trump would attack international institutions like NATO or the World Trade Organization was evidence that he was rejecting the whole project, turning America inward toward “restraint” and “isolationism.” In reality, while Trump denied the first half - eschewing internationalist cooperation or rulemaking - he maintained the latter, continuing to use violent force abroad on a whim when he thought that it would be to the national benefit. In short, he was a national chauvinist, completely fine with military adventurism, but opposed to even a whiff of multilateralism.
