Ty it’s amazing how small ponds can produce fish like that. And I’ve seen big lakes where the over population of like bass and bluegill yield bass that’s less than a pound or two. I fished a pond like that many years ago and I’d keep 10 to 15 bass that were on average a pound or two for eating. After a couple years doing that they began to grow. The last time I fished it they were up to the 3-5 pound range. Then it was more catch and release.
@TyPigPatrol5 жыл бұрын
Very smart! the only way for fish to get big is if there is an optimal amount of them in there. there are only a few cats in these ponds, hence they get massive

@jtnachos165 жыл бұрын
On behalf of a REAL fisherman, there is nothing wrong whatsoever with taking large cats or even sport fish. The issue is when you keep taking the smaller ones, meaning none ever get big enough to be fun, and you hurt the population. Catfish tend to be good eating. As do most fish. There is nothing wrong with taking the fish, so long as you put it to use. The people you need to worry about are those taking the young fish, and those who just leave fish on the shore to die.
@jeffalbillar76255 жыл бұрын
@@jtnachos16 I heard that. The other guy most likely doesn't have to fish to eat. All good. By the by, Catfish is real good eating.
@jtnachos165 жыл бұрын
@@jeffalbillar7625 I don't HAVE to fish to eat either, but for a LOT of people, a good day's fishing means a smaller grocery bill. And again, nothing wrong with taking a big fish outta the environment to free up resources for the rest the fish to get bigger.

lol that's what they all say Jack, but we all know it's impossible to judge the size of something especially in a video, without another object of a known size to reference to XD Even if you seen it held next to something that you already know the size of there are other factors that go into weight/size proportions. There are fat short people out there, and there are skinny tall ones. It's how hollywood sells you a 6 foot Tom Cruise, or a 3.5 foot Frodo Baggins.
