A million thanks for your honesty. Other "homesteaders" who have been "homesteading" for 2 weeks think they have the processed nailed and they don't. I've been farming/ranching for decades and it's still a learning process and I'm 75.

My favorite component of your videos is your honest discussion. So many people would never admit that the cost of a project is a factor in decision making. Gloss over details of expense and work and challenge and just present the finished project as "the best" when really the only part that matters is that it works!

The fastest way to calm pigs is to use a stick, rub their side then move slowly to their belly. Rubbing their belly till they lay on their side. You then won them over. It's fun to watch them relax an layover. Even grandkids can do this. It's real fun.

Have you ever considered trading...someone helps you with your fencing in exchange for some food supply. When we lived on the farm, harvesting was too big a project for just the farmers. So they got family, friends and neighbors and made a whole party out of harvesting, canning, etc. Seems like we partied for at least a week. Cookouts. Work the fields in the day and party at night... Meaning food and music and snapping peas and husking corn and water melons and strawberries and jams and sharing from each other's farms....it was a lot of fun.

As always I am enjoying your videos. I have raised both cows and goats and both can break right through regular electric fencing. We have used barbless twisted wire and have used high tension wire. Both are much stronger than the thin electric wire. Our goats would still run through the electric. Goats are smart enough to realize it only hurts for a second and then we can go eat the garden. God Bless

Keeping the grass and such off the fence will be the biggest issue. Regular walks along the fence line to weed eat will take care of it. We used 4 strands of horse wire in a very hilly wooded area in Virginia, and it worked well for my does and kids. Bucks were housed separately and I used cattle panels. Bucks ignore most anything if there are does around, cattle panels were the only thing I found to keep them in securely. Good luck with everything.
