Thank you Boudy for the explanation of why a regular performer will power through their performance but none of this applies here. Angelina was told at the show and by stage manager and doctors that she did not have to sing, her reason to power through is for the children that this charity was to help and her love for singing. In fact there is or was a video of Angelina in the back stage hall way on her way to a show telling us that nothing will stop her love for singing, and she pulls up the back of her shirt and shows us the red spots all over her back. She's unstoppable.

She had gotten sick when she performed in the middle of winter in an outdoor concert in Oslo for the Nobel Peace Prize concert in freezing temps in bare feet. Her mom and Doctors advised her not to do this concert but she insisted because she had made a commitment. She is not only a musical superstar, she is a superstar human being with a heart as big as the planet.

There is no need to worry about this, because it is impossible that Angelina caught the cold at the NPP event on December 10th, as Swedish Heroes was recorded on December 8th (broadcast a few days later on December 12th). It is more likely that she caught it two days earlier in Berlin (Ein Herz für Kinder Gala, INDOORS! - large, poorly ventilated rooms backstage, as well as the hall).

As you probably found out already, it was a charity event in Sweden and SHE DID NOT WANT TO MISS IT even though her family was telling her it would be wise not to go. Play it again and look at her facile expressions, "Just call my name and I'll be there." Always remember, this is an 8 year old kid who understands the message of every song she sings. All the donor's in the audience were spellbound. I'm sure a lot of them never heard or even knew Angelina and no one moved an inch while she was singing. I have a feeling most of them reached down very far into their pockets to contribute to the cause (which was about children bullying other children). Can't make this up, she is a gift to humanity and even at 8 years old she knew the role she was playing and will continue for the rest of her life.

For me, it's not that first time she "goes for it" and her voice cracks. It's the time _after_ that, when she is called on to "go for it" again. And she does. She totally does. *Massive* respect to her for that.

For me this is the most emotional performance Angelina has ever performed, and not just because of the arrangement nor the way she did it! It was a charity performance and the first time I heard this I did not know about her being sick, but I could tell she was in the first line! By the time she finished, she had ripped my heart out and I was sheading tears like water pouring out of a water fountain! I was a total wreck the rest of the day! Many of her performances have brought me to tears, but in 10 years she has made me a mass of cells unable to move twice- this performance and her performance of Unchained Melody during her concert in Portsmouth NH last year - my all time favorite song and I was setting 10 feet from her!! And thou I have heard this performance probably over 200 times, I STILL TEAR UP every time!

Hi bodey they said she had a 103 temp, The folks in the audience seen the doctors with her before her performance, So they knew she was sick, Ya can see the tears in the eyes of the audience filled with admiration for this little trooper. Its the way she was raised by her whole family. She gave her word a year earlier to do the show she didnt figure on getting sick but she did and she delivered anyway.They raised alot of money that night for the childrens foundation, They got their checkbooks out after seeing her give it her all while being sick. Thank you for your pleasant reaction. It was a touching performance from a charity concert arranged by a Swedish newspaper in Stockholm. Every year, hundreds of everyday heroes are nominated through reports. These people have shown civil courage and humanity - they have made a difference in accidents and even saved lives. Several of Sweden's most famous singers were in the audience, as they also performed at this concert. Even the prime minister was there. The newspaper wrote in 2014, "The 8-year KZbin phenomenon made celebrity Sweden cry." As you noted, Angelina caught a cold. Her doctor advised her not to sing, but she wanted to take advantage of the unique opportunity to pay tribute to Swedish heroes. Angelina inspires us all.

Someone wrote that the audience knew she had a fever and a cold, and that they were moved to see such a young girl insist on singing for this cause and give everything she had to finish the song. Never has "I Will Be There" been so true. On the downside, there's a little video on YT recorded just before her performance (her grandmother?) where the organizers ask her to step up to the mic, but they still have preparations to make behind her - benches, music stands, microphones for the musicians. We see her beside the microphone, alone, barefoot, coughing once or twice, waiting patiently for long minutes in front of the audience. For a kid who's shy when she's not singing, this must have been very embarrassing.

That had to hurt when she went up and her voice cracked. Hats off to her. Sometimes I think it makes the song better when she is a bit under the weather. I liked the changes she had to make at the Asian Gala in the 2 songs she sang. If one plugs their nose and speaks that is how she sounded when she spoke. I was shocked when her second song was "I Have Nothing". It always makes me think of what some pros have said about her "her imperfections are perfect" and most of the time I think that is true.

A friend of mine who sang with a popular 'doo wop' group called 'The Passions' in the '60's' told me that as soon as you feel a sore throat coming on, simply gargle with hydrogen peroxide and it will attack the infection virtually within an hour. I've followed his advice, which he said many top singers know about, and it has served me well for many, many years.

Bpoudy, as I understand it, it was 2 weeks after her singing at her first NOBEL Peace Prize ceremony. She sang there in November, in Oslo, barefoot, on a stage OUTSIDE. YEP, I thought so too. She almost had pneumonia, her doctor recommended to her, to cancel this concert in honor of "every day heroes". As a woman of her word, she sang. As I understand it, this performance was within a couple days of her performance at the Save the Children event at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. There is some debate as to which performance came first. The Nobel Peace Prize event was on either December 10th or 11th. This performance in Sweden aired on TV on December 12th but some say it was recorded on the 8th.

Hey Elmar, the NPP event took place just before noon on the day of the awards ceremony (always December 10th), the official Peace Prize ceremony was held in the afternoon (the official "adult" NPP concert always took place the next day). This Save the Children Nobel Peace Prize party was live streamed and that live stream is still available on NRK. This Swedish Heroes Gala took place on December 8th and was broadcast a few days later on December 12th (there are enough posts on social media from Swedish celebrities attending to prove it). So the outdoor performance was not the reason for the cold. But it is not so important where she caught the cold, what matters is - as you already mentioned - that she really wanted to sing because it was some kind of charity event and she had agreed to perform - just a tremendous work ethic.

Her phenomenal dedication to her art and to human beings is truly inspiring to me. As a writer and poet, Angelina and Taylor Swift are my role models for perseverance and keeping focused on your artistic vision. I suppose I could throw in Jacob Collier and Dirty Loops into that class of inspiring artistic role models who create their own path in life, but AJ and TSwift bring a generosity of spirit that is equally inspiring as their artistic dedication. Angelina was busy during the holiday season following her winning Norway's Got Talent. She performed at an event on German TV, singing "Fly Me to the Moon" to help raise money for charity. This performance in Sweden was also to raise money for charity and was within a couple days of her performance at the Save the Children event at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony, where she sang outside in the cold, barefoot of course. Angelina will ALWAYS be there for the children of the world. I agree Boudy, 8 year old Angelina, and since, is a true inspiration.

@@andyschnell58 She did the concerts but she was also scheduled to do "I Put A Spell On You" and her family had reserved the studio/musicians and crew, but as you know, that was postponed until January 2015.

Although it's commendable that she wanted to perform even though she was sick & she did a great job under the circumstances, but at that young age she could have done some serious damage to her vocal cords, so I'm with the doctor & her Mom on this one. How would all the fans feel if she had damaged her vocal cords by singing against her doctor's orders & her Mother's wishes. I know that's not a popular view, but I put her health & protection of her instrument above any single performance by her, as there were plenty of other artists there performing at this concert. Not that I'll be around to see it, but if she takes care of her voice, she should have a 4 or 5 decade career ahead of her. Look at Adele who is still quite young, but has had 2 surgeries on her vocals so far & she had to back out of her concerts in Vegas a couple of months ago over vocal problems. Just my protective instincts I suppose.

Beautiful voice and I think she picked the right song, to sing because it kind of makes you a little bit choked up just to watch her singing and listen to it as well.
