Loved the description. I would really like to see her either tour with a big band or, sing with the symphony orchestras around the country. Our local symphony adds to their regular sections Jazz players and has many different types of musicians perform like Doc Severinsen, Kenny G etc. Harry Connick travels with his own big band as does Michael Buble and they put on fabulous shows. This type of music (Standards) is her wheelhouse. If she becomes a “Pop” singer, she may make more money, but won’t stand out from the crowd as she won’t be as unique. Don’t misunderstand me, she is fabulous no matter what she sings, there are many “Pop” singers; not a lot of female crooners.

Let's see if I understand this. Angelina is wonderful with a big band like this. She's fantastic with a full orchestra like in "Unchained Melody" and "Summertime." The is a fantastic intimacy in those recording at home with Egil and Ivan. Her acapella performances are beautiful. I think it would be safe to say that she is fantastic, regardless of the accompaniment.

The stars and planets aligned when Angelina Jordan was born. The journey of an artist can indeed be profoundly affected by their socioeconomic background. Angelina Jordan's financial stability has arguably given her the freedom to explore and express her creativity without the immediate pressure of financial survival. The most profound individual in AJ’s life, according to her, is her grandmother, Mery Zamani, artist/poet extraordinaire who’s knowledge, wealth and genius have tutored AJ, and cultivated her unbelievable talent. This is a luxury not afforded to all artists, and the music industry is replete with stories of immensely talented individuals who have faced immense pressure to succeed financially. This pressure can sometimes lead to a tragic struggle with substance abuse, as seen in the cases of Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse. Their legacies serve as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of the immense pressures of fame and success in the music industry. It's a complex tapestry where talent, personal circumstances, and external pressures interweave to shape an artist's career and personal life. (CopyRight)

Angelina was 12 here, invited by Quincy to preform at his 85th birthday gala in London. She is a total professional even at her earliest ages of performing. Just for your personal look, here is a video of her singing just for Quincy BTS with just her phone as backing track, it is a private audience with Quincy: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJ6xo6KOlNVlmJo. She has touched so many famous artists, and they all know who she is. She just hooked up with Toby Gab, quite famous songwriter, musician and they are writing a new song together and she is collaborating with him for a re-strung version of his many songs and performing live with him, I believe in London as well...this is new!! Cheers, stay well. Here is a video of that announcement:kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGLTXoGOo9-In5o... your a busy guy so maybe have a peek when you can. I love your production notes and explanations, Boudy. Keep 'em coming! The word that leaps to mind while listening to this Angelina vocal is authentic. How many singers today can swing like this with a big band and sound like they were born to do it? Angelina also understands that a sweet tone and good enunciation is part of this style and does she deliver! I adore your scenario of Angelina touring with a big band in a musical revue. I think it would generate the kind of fandom The Grateful Dead used to draw, with people following the shows across the country and maybe even across the world. We can dream.

One of the longest but most interesting (and even entertaining) of her rehearsal videos is from when she was 8, preparing for a performance at a somewhat random "industry event" called the Orkla Growth Awards (Orkla being a large Norwegian conglomerate - you can find more info with a web search). In the c. 8-minute video kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIbClZV7eNSSa8k Angelina sings three full takes of "At Last" in front of a medium sized band. What makes it interesting is how each run-through is slower, with softer and less musically "busy" accompaniment than the one before it - and this seems to be a direct result of Angelina's own preferences. Even though she is never seen actually giving her opinions (smash cuts prevent us from seeing what happened between the takes), her facial expressions and gestures (mostly not visible to the musicians behind her) make it *very* obvious that she is quite unhappy with the first take, more satisfied with the second, and most pleased (although perhaps not totally) with the third. At one point midway through the first take, she emphatically motions someone over to her, presumably so they can discuss what she wants changed when song ends. In a separate video showing a fourth take (v=hyyOyEoO06w), at the end of the song the guitarist (and perhaps musical director) seems to ask Angelina directly for her assessment, which she gives with a head nod. Unfortunately, in the actual performance (v=sWf6qRvRMho) the musicians seem to have forgotten some of what they were told during the rehearsals, as the accompaniment is noticeably more "obtrusive" (IMO) than in the later rehearsal takes.

This collaboration continues to this day with subsequent concerts performed in Stuttgart, Paris, Montreux and Seattle, including Quincy’s 85th birthday at London’s O2 in 2018, which saw the legend himself perform his hits to brand new arrangements.
