@Georgia Arvaniti. Hello ladies! I was one of the animators on the Iron Giant. On behalf of the entire crew..Thank you for your wonderful reaction and so glad you love this movie as much as we loved making it. We are all so glad that it has found it's audience and is regarded as one of the very best in animation history. And we couldn't be happier that so many hold it so dear to their hearts. All the best to you both. :)

I love how you guys didn’t rip off Disney (like everyone else at the time following the trend) and did your own thing (in terms of animation). I actually like how this is animated more than Disney’s movies. It’s is one of my favorites because my dad showed it to me when I was a kid. Thank you all for doing such a fine job. question, what was the hardest part about animating the film? Like what troubled you guys the most.

Yes, those are the absolute best children's movies. Where they know that children are children, so there is a limit to what you can show them, but at the same time they don't treat children like they're stupid.

Oh yeah that has to be the most honest reaction I will ever see. All my boys lost it on that part... Yeah me too. I felt for both of you two. I had to watch 'The Superman" scene about 6 times to watch each of you separately. Keep up the good work. Many other surprisingly Cinnamic flops that got a life when released on VHS (Hahaha). The Shawshank Shank Redemption and The Green Mile. approach both carefully as they are super tear jerkers.

Hollywood simply doesn't know how to market films that are made to be for people dumb as bricks. Just look at how badly they treated the release of John Carter.

A lot of people wonder why or how The Iron Giant could have survived the intense heat and blast of a thermonuclear weapon. Fusion weapon is basically a miniature star... hotter than the surface of the Sun. It doesn't matter how advanced The Iron Giant is. Whatever metal alloy he's made out of what is still been incinerated by the Heat so the only way he could have survived is if the giant has an automatic energy field to protect himself similar to the one the aliens used in the Independence Day films. We've already seen that he has a defense mechanism so it makes sense that it's possible that the blast could have been detected and an energy Shield could have instantly been turned on protecting his body

It's more likely that it's just a make-believe story told by writers who aren't nuclear physicists. Whatever hoops you need to jump through in order to make the film seem "not stupid" in your eyes though, go right ahead. There's always some suspension of disbelief necessary in order to enjoy a work of fiction, this is an example. Nuclear science may have already come a long way by 1999, but it absolutely was not something the average person was familiar with, and it still isn't. For the sake of the story, saying "he's made of some super-tough alien alloys" is more than enough for most people.
