I literally just watched Taylor Ray's video on why he ditched the blue corvette chassis because of the way the cage had to mount to the aluminum with a piece of angle. This video illustrates what Taylor was talking about perfectly. The Flordia Car KZbinr community has been killing it with content lately! I'm so happy to see all of you grow into the creators you have become! Keep up the good work Kevin!

Outstanding work guys. Kevin I 100% agree with your "philosophy" on cages. I am 6'4 and tall torso, and it was such a bone of contention building off road race vehicles and a handful of race cars back when with cage builders wanting to go for the style over function look. When the function is keeping my noggin free of being whacked by metal, I want the function first. Judging by some of the cages I see on SXS these days I don't think people are paying enough attention to the purpose of the cage but want the "cool look", of the chopped top. I think they are nuts.

I've always liked the idea of destroking larger displacement engines for road racing. Take a bit of torque off the bottom end but get some nice rpm range. They sound pretty nice as well...reminds me of Lou Giglioti's corvettes he ran with his nice long tube headers

After the mention of power/weight performance balancing I started thinking "what if they strictly went by horsepower and completely disregarded torque?" That then made me think of taking a 427 aluminum block LS with LM7 heads and cam just to see. It'd be a bit like an old nailhead or something...but modern...maybe. It's not a combo that makes any sense but I want to see it.

I will enjoy learning more watching this build. I'm going to make a possible comparison. Road racing car extremely expensive and beyond max effort definitely takes quite a few people. Drag week car expensive but within range of how fast you want to go. The car has to endure quite a bit but also has to be quickly repairable. Almost hand in hand between the 2 .
@bigbaz11592 жыл бұрын
Do they have to run a stock type transaxle as a lot of the Drag race and Drift guys plus I have seen some of the GT road race Vett's running conventional Trans with the early Diff or as the Cars that are being built now have quick change Diff Gears "See Taylor Ray's or Collete Davis's new Vett Drift Builds" Garret is also changing Leroy to conventional Trans layout with the IRS setup staying, I would personally ditch the IRS and go 9" and 4 bar layout but that's just how I would go if it was my setup or how I would of advised a customer to get the best results.
