My God, thats a lot of work and the really hard work is yet to come. I hope the bill is going to be worth it for the Landrover owner

Sacrilege to sacrifice a beautiful V6 Jaguar XF in favour of a Land Rover. Strangely the V6 diesel is only known for crank failure in Land Rovers!
@TurningSpannerzКүн бұрын
Maybe due to the weight of the LR? Another thought maybe the way they are driven and where. Thanks for the comment!

I would have wanted to cut open the jag oil filter before investing time stripping the engine out. Also, I would not have wanted to retain any parts of the old car that carried oil e.g. turbo, oil cooler etc., to avoid contaminating the jag engine with swarf generated by the Rover engine prior to seizure.

that looks like a nice jag, what was its issue that you used it as scrap? nice work though
@TurningSpannerz2 күн бұрын
Thanks😊 , it was cheaper than buying an engine assembly. At least with this one we knew it was running and we could sell the rest of the car on and recoup some money.

Is the Jag engine a gen2? Think that’s what the Disco 4 will be
@TurningSpannerzКүн бұрын
I think so 🤞
@johnmchardy45022 сағат бұрын
Is that a bmw engine and what are the main issues with them as in crank failure or oil pump etc
@TurningSpannerzСағат бұрын
Hi John, I believe it is something Peugeot or Ford based. Its referred to as the Lion engine. The crankshaft fails because there is not enough material on the webbings making them weak especially when put under load. Probably the reason they fail more often in the 4x4s rather than when in the cars.

@@TurningSpannerz sadly! It's actually just right outside this parking lot im in rn, collecting dust. we tried to get it to the court as the 2nd hand selling was basically a scam/fraud maybe elsewhere, when you buy 2nd hand stuff it's "as is, your responsibility" and stuff but where i am from, the lawyers told there is a chance we could reverse the transaction it technically starts, and runs and drives even, except there's some fuel leak (which ultimately got us to stop using it) which smells very bad from the outside. don't know where it's coming from. 2014 XF V6 IIRC it's been almost a year since we got it :/

Sorry to hear about your troubles! someone did mention to me once that if you purchased a vehicle as "sold as seen" and it was seen as running, driving & road legal then you had some come back. Not sure if this would help you at all.

@@TurningSpannerz Just as I told this, just yesterday we got a report back from the expert who basically verified everything we said and gave it to the court. it's now up to the judge to honor it, but we basically got a 3rd party "unbiased" opinion saying the sale of the car was a fraud and many lies were told. A big update after a while, let's see how it goes. hope we can get rid of it, and even if not 100% of the cash, a decent amount (honestly, even above 70% I'd say) would be enough.
