I really liked when you guys built the diamond t back in the day in KZbin... Man I'd rather watch you guys on here than on TV.. Glad your getting back to your roots an building things you want to build
@therandumbcarguy5 жыл бұрын
Cant wait to see the rest of this rebuild. When you play hard, its the smallest things that can break you down. Some people wont understand how that little hole can cause so much power loss because they dont realize the amount of boost your pushing, then add the NOS and its amazing that motor lasted so long. Keep up the great work, watched this build when it was on tv. So cool to see you putting content up.

Probably could have been all them cycles on the motor as well as all of those wicked ass burnouts...and all of the mud pies and all of the extra curricular shit that the motor has done...it was a trooper...lets have a moment of silence...now on to the next one...

If I remember correctly back in the day, as we say, the old timers used propane for power in diesel said that nitrous causes detonation and something about how propane blended better for a smoother combustion

It still does,nos is for guys that cant build a motor.

Sick ride. So much detail I never noticed in the original episode. Loved seeing the tear down. Cash is well advanced now, nice to see. Keep up the great work! You make us all want to create our own rat rods too! 👊

Steve and crew yall are the baddest asses I've ever seen. Be a dream to work for a shop like yours, hopefully one day I will. Would of used a 24 valve converted to p pump personally. 12 valve never outflow a 24 valve head. More flow equals same power at lower boost levels and way more efficient. Kudos, keep up good work.

So correct me if I’m wrong but that block has a future, granted After a trip to the machine shop so glad I own a 12 valve and it only has 165 horse and 420 foot pounds of torque it’s going to last me until 2221 doesn’t have the cool factor of the D rod though.
@rogerfleury97595 жыл бұрын
Steve, EVERYTHING has to blow up sooner or later! Your whole thing is to push everything to the limit, isn’t it? This time it just went KABLOOY! Loved your show, and even though I like my stuff shiny, I respect the hell out of what you guys do and your vision on how you want things to be so I am going to subscribe to your channel right now. Are you still running a Bus tour to your shop?

Sad it went boom. Happy you are building a new mill. Love the work! As far as breaking a motor,i think it stood up very well. Would love to see a D-ROD burnout in person. Sema maybe?

Can't wait to see the horsepower in the fresh build! That D-Rod is built like a brick shithouse. Steve, that "damage" is really inconsequential, since you're freshening the D-Rod anyway.

should drill some holes in one end of the table.. looks like its a steel table. this way you just use 2 bolts or pins to hold engine while torque down the bolts. also a nice little helper when fighting stuck bolts. never gets tired holding it :)

Very true it's his car, some time's the guy that is running the company is to busy to work on the car's he has a whole crew on the pay roll we don't even see on camera they film on a part of the shop where no one can see when you go visit his shop. When they are filming for the show they are way in the back lot off limits. Like right now you see no one walking behind Steve while filming for KZbin.

if it ant wore out fix that one valve n piston refresh it call it a day .but they are going to race the crap out of it so a set of high end valves on the exhaust is a must and ceramic coating on the pistons is what i would do to a oem set that crap is good stuff and all one needs is a diy set up to bake it on .one of the bigger company's that do top piston coating started off with a home stove modified a bit with a pll controller one has to think outside the box sometimes

That is how I found you all, was that damn tube. I got rid of that time bandit and follow you here on youtube. I seen you wail on it a few times and built a few (much lesser degree) for the neighbors. Including (don't hit me)a built one I took backwards for my brother for his case dozer. Way less power and it wound up with enough that I had to back the pump down as the tracks would spin on a moments notice and he would ner boil over himself thinking finals are going... track will break, amillion never happened but he worries about which side of the toast to butter.... I lost him in april at a month past his 70th birthday... damn it jim. I told him no one gets out alive. His dozer is parked up where it will stay. You guys shop looks bigger or has it been that long. You look more content and relaxed so must be out from under the tv bull crap that pushes when you should be taking a "lonestar" break. Good luck and good building

And I thought I had problems! After nearly 300k miles, my 94 Ranger (2.3L/5 speed), was finally too tired for anything but around town duty. I've decided to give the lil fella the V-8 that he's always wanted! The problem I'm having is that all of the yards in my area think that the old Ford Windsor cores are worth their weight in gold! $800 minimum for a carbureted 302 from a pickup, don't even think about one from a Mustang ($1000 minimum), and, if you want a roller cam engine, forget about it if you're on a budget! Mind you, these are prices for what I consider core engines. IF they even run, they smoke, knock etc. Even though I like building my own engines, at these prices, I'm pretty sure I'll be going with a crate long block for this project!

Great video!!..I agree with some of the commentors, that this is more interesting then your Show..I think "your" content choice and editing are the reason for that...Any chance of you producing your own show and then selling it to the Networks???...I think it would be a slam dunk!!..makes sence as you are "artsy fartsy" as hell and you know what and old wrench/racer like me wants to watch!!..Like Iij said GREAT JOB!!!

120 pounds of boost is insane average turbo motor stock ~ maybe 6 psi i knew a tractor puller running 5 dart nas car V8's with 60 psi , the engines were rebuilt at the end of each day

Compound Turbos Run at insane amounts of Boost. 120 psi isn't that all Uncommon for a Built Diesel running Compounds These Days.

Back in the Day i had a 1988 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, had a switch on Dashboard, Regular or Premium Fuel. On Premium Fuel Setting it would see i believe 12-14 pounds of Boost. My First Car was a 1987 Daytona Turbo, i believe that would be around 10 pounds of Boost. Both were completely Stock Too.
@andrewosborne51465 жыл бұрын
My twin turbo Cat in my Peterbuilt pulls 55lbs boost. My sandrail has a 2.3 Ford fully built with a precision performance turbo pushing 35lbs boost on 100 octane. 120 lbs would be WOW!!!!
