Nice work with your channel. Agree with wanting to keep the OEM feel while updating the entertainment/navigation system from 2005. (My favorite cassette tapes are long gone.) After considering the limited options in the market, I went with the Tesla-style Android radio. But, like your experience, "enjoyed" some hardware issues on the journey. Got it sorted now and looking into cellular signal booster systems. Heading over to your vid on WeBoost now. Please keep up the good work and safe trails to you and yours.

Thanks a million it’s always a sorting out process trying to find the right upgrades for a build

How do you like the Tesla style system ? I'm kicking around the idea of either the groom or the Tesla style.

Is the tape player still usable with the vline? Have an 03 and really like listening to my tapes. Currently running bt45-toy for Bluetooth phone connection, but would be nice to run Gia on the screen not the phone.

I'm going back and forth between this and the Pheonix Automotive PX6 tesla-style screen, I like the OEM look, but the screen is crappy quality and it seems a little slow.
@oxoverlandfamilyadventures46564 жыл бұрын
Yeah I went to switch to the Tesla style but it doesn’t work with the rear DVD player and with the kids we need it for our longer trips. I honestly haven’t been that impressed with the Grom cuz it’s so glitchy

OXOverland Family Adventures yeah, that’s what I’ve read. I think I’ve decided on the Phoenix, but now I have to figure out how to replace the speakers and/or amp. I’m trying to figure out if I can put speakers in it or not, and if I have to replace the amp, how do I get one that powers all 14 speakers? I can’t find exactly what I’m looking for on any of the forums.

I just put in the same system and did the same usb/hdmi input in lieu of the passenger side cigarette lighter. I’m getting a battery light on my dash. Did you have to do anything to bypass that? Did you completely disconnect the cigarette lighter from the terminations?
@oxoverlandfamilyadventures46564 жыл бұрын
Cameron Connolly no but it doesn’t surprise me these things are super glitchy this is one I somewhat regret putting in

@@oxoverlandfamilyadventures4656 Are you saying you regret getting the GROM Vline VL2 in general, or the usb/hdmi input? I was almost considering getting a VL2 base on your review, until I saw this comment lol What are the glitchy issues you're having?
@oxoverlandfamilyadventures46563 жыл бұрын
@@dazlave it’s a hard question to answer. It is glitchy mine will kick me off wireless car play and won’t let me reconnect unless I reboot the system which takes a while even after the trucks shut off it’s not like you can turn it of and on and it works. It doesn’t happen all the time but on drive days it’s not uncommon to have it happen once. Sometimes it’ll let me reconnect after 20 min of driving but that’s hit or miss. I was going to install the Tesla screen style but we’d have lost the rear entertainment so we’re just using it. I still think it’s better than stock but it’s not always super simple making old tech work with new so I just deal with the issues. %90 of the time it works fine %10 of the time I want to guck it througha window. Lol hope that helps a little

Hi! can You post picture of that grom vline from drivers eyes position? I have 2005, so the same nav model, a want to see is resolution will be fine for me. Is grom have less resolution as climate controls menu?
@oxoverlandfamilyadventures46565 жыл бұрын
Is3 not sure exactly what your asking. The resolution dictated by the screen not the Vline so it’ll be the same as it is now. The climate control uses the factory screen so there is no change. The user interface is different from factory. Most of the shots of the screen was shot from sitting in the driver seat.

Have you enjoyed the grom so far?
@oxoverlandfamilyadventures46563 жыл бұрын
Yeah for the most part it’s a little glitchy but the benefits definitely outweigh the issues

Sounds like youve had problems, but don’t want to say
@oxoverlandfamilyadventures46563 жыл бұрын
Was it that obvious lol 😂. It’s not terrible we still use it and 80% of the time it works fine the other 20% I want to put my foot through it lol
