Hi April and Jack, have really enjoyed your project and learnt a lot - I'm planning to do similar. Have a couple of clarifying Qs if I may? The Royal Flair van, original, did it come with the independent suspension or your addition. After the floor why did you build from inside (cupboards etc.) out rather than walls up then outside in? Convert brakes to electric over hydraulic, when then add discs rather than stay with easier option of exist drums? Well done, I admire your guts, determination and aptitude; your living life to the max, goodonya! Barry.

Hey Jack and April, What is the name of the trim you used for the front of your caravan, and where did you get it? I am having trouble finding trim like that to bend around a curve.

Have you guys run into any issues with the door opening the way it does? I think you guys bought a right hand side door and put it on the left. The hinges should be at the front of the camper for safety and helps prevent water coming in.

You have both done a great job 😊 couple of questions for you 1. How big is the van 2. Why did you choose not to put in lighting 3. Why did you choose not to put in a shower or put in an outdoor shower that you could attach a shower room too Look forward to the walk around and it will be interesting see what this has cost you. Keep the videos coming, stay safe. 🤣
@JackCanDoIt3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Katherine! It has been a massive team effort. 1. The van is 17ft 2. We haven't gotten to that stage just yet as we want to get that part suited to how we live in it 3. We went for space over bathroom, as in most vans they take up a huge chunk of area, plus it ads more weight. We are happy with finding places it doesn't bother us :) Will Chat to you soon!!

Hey brother First of all good job USA here i am building the same thing what is the vehicle you tow with and torque? A few questions please... Final weight? How wide did you go outside to out side? Length front to back? Height from top of trailer... to top of trailer? Do you have wind issues while towing? Both did a good job as a craftsman myself i know and see both of your hard work. I am building my own walls how deep where the groves in the wall where adhesive was and spacing if you had to guess? My best friend in the U.S is a mate an Aussie good day mate lol thank you😉😊
@JackCanDoIt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Monty, Thanks heaps for the comment and questions! Love that you are from the U.S and our video has reached you! vehicle is a 79 series Landcruiser about 700nm of torque Final weight is 2.7ton 2.3 meters outside to outside front to back is about 7.5 metres no wind issues and height is about 3.0 meters The groves are about 30mm to adhere to! Hope that helps , thanks again for the message! I've got a few good mates in the U.S Will love to visit one day!

Great build, you guys. Love the fibreglass panels. Did you have any challenges with your final inspection? I’m not familiar with Australian trailer laws but here in Canada the side door opening has to always be towards the back. Was there a particular reason why yours faces the front. I hope it never unlatches while driving. Cheers
@JackCanDoIt3 жыл бұрын
No issues at all in that department. The vans over here are all shapes & sizes. doors on every panel facing anyway. Must be a bit harsh over in Canada it sounds!

Hi Jack and April. Hay I am doing a similar build with the same product. “Styromax” But I’m doing a house boat on a 21’ pontoon boat. I’m in the design stage and about to cost up the products. Can you tell me what was the cost of the styromax and windows including delivery please. Well done on the build looks great.
@JackCanDoIt3 жыл бұрын
Hi David, That sounds amazing! You are best just to call them up as all deliveries and windows are different prices. They are fairly priced and we even went to their massive warehouse where they make the panels. Incredible stuff you won't be disappointed! Thank you! April & Jack

@wilsontan8873 жыл бұрын
Heyy April & Jack. I was wondering how much did the styromax for this build set you back including the windows and doors-would you have an estimated figure? I'm in the process of building a 16ft caravan the trailer is getting designed at the moment.Have a few design options like the styromax, fridge panels or aluminium sheeted shell. Thanks
@JackCanDoIt3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, I reckon its best if you call them up, tell them your measurements and go from there. They could have gone up in price since then so ours could be completely off and I don't want to scare you! Thank you
@alexscott42773 жыл бұрын
Umm, you haven't put the inner fiberglass skin on the curved parts of the styroMAX (i.e. the bits that have the relief cuts to allow the curves in the ceiling). Looking at a few of their youtube videos, this is required to put the strength back into that area once it is in place.
@JackCanDoIt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, we opted out of this as we liked the look of the relief cuts, gives it another dimension. Also, please send me the link for the video stating its for strength :) if you have used this product before you would know that just one side of the glass holds a lot of strength, plus its on the corners (rolls) also a place where strength is found. Gluing a fill piece in would serve no purpose for strength just looks. I could glue each cut through the middle which then would be a lot stronger, but as of yet, haven't seen the need. Thank you for your comment though. Look forward to seeing your caravan build done!
