So, we were told our new Honda CB1000 Hornet SP was nearly ready from Youles Manchester, so like the excited little boys we are at heart, we decided to go take a look and speak to Youles about the great deal we got on this bargain of a bike. Most people will be just as fast on this as anything else because it's all you need for the road and most riders have a default limit which is less capable than the bike.

I'm not a Honda fan except for the 1981 Cb1100rc I had in the 80ties... This Hornet1000 is genius and is rewriting the rules, the other manufacturers must be crapping themselves?...

I remember getting an almost new GSXR1000K5 with 1000 miles on it from Cupar Motorcycles for about £5000. As many will know, that bike was one of the best bikes you could buy back then. Since that time, bike manufacturers have got a bit greedy. Thankfully the Chinese have come along to calm things down a bit. It will be good to attract new motorcyclists too. I have a Gen2 'Busa that I've had for 2 years now. Another very low mileage 'pre-loved' bike. 4 grand more expensive than my K5. Yeah I know inflation but for gawds sake!

The IMU doesn’t cost that much one sensor and programming , it’s just not a priority for this model right now .

Interesting to see how this hornet stacks up to the Yam MT09, which is fully loaded, and set up for real road performance. The MT09 is more expensive, but is it more value. Is the MT09 better suited for the road, with just as much fun, maybe more, with lots of low down torque, and power, at lower revs. The MT09 has more safety features too. And as for wheelie control, the Honda seems to have it fully on, or fully off. One would rather have the wheelie control to be at levels. Again, more safety.

@@kevindarkstar Don't know how the "100%" comment ended up here! We had a quick search and can't find a reliable answer. Because of the price we'll hazard a guess and say it's not in the Japanese factory. But Honda have always been among the most reliable cars and bikes. Pretty sure they would have implemented the same quality control checks and manufacturing procedures in all their factories.

Pretty cool. But I don't understand the hype, tbh. Suzuki GSXS 950 and 1000 have been available for sale long before this Hornet and for a fair price. 950 model can be unlocked to 150hp easily.

GSXS 1000 is £1k more and does without niceties such as an Ohlins rear shock and Stylemas. That’s part of the hype. VALUE.

The tail of this bike is ugly as fuck. The front half looks cool. The Yamaha XSR900 still tops my wishlist when I eventually ditch my Fireblade. The new Z900 looks cool also…
