As you said: what a cool story to make this tour in TN 30y after the production of this truck, I did the same this year with my Ford E150, back to roots, roadtrip from FRANCE to USA and cruising to Williamsburg VA where my Ford was originally sold 30 years ago. Thank you for the HRPT videos serie

Enjoyed your power tour series, hoping to do the tour with my 67 next year. My wife deals with anxiety as well and I’ve had to pull over many times over the past 30 years. She had an episode once going through the Rocky Mountain National Park and i was unable to pull over. She got through it by staring through the sunroof and not at the road. Tell your wife she is not alone in her struggle. We look forward to your future content. Take care both of you.

This was a first for her. We’re so used to Florida and it’s flat roads. These mountain roads do get sketchy. Next time I’ll take it easy around the curves. Hope to see you on the tour next year!

9.6 mpg? Those are vortec 7.4 mpg numbers you are getting from your tbi 7.4! I wish I got anything near that. I’m at about 4 mpg, despite fixing all kinds of sensors, tune up etc… even with a US Gear overdrive on the freeway to effectively have 3.73 rear gears instead of 4.10. Instead of the roughly 135k it supposedly had, I have the feeling this engine and trans have actually done about 235 or even 335. Ah well, thems the breaks! Btw, the left driver thermosensor is the gauge , the center is the computer, and the right one is the EFAN. Is your efan actually kicking on? Doesn’t seem like it’s cooling system issue but an airflow issue under the hood. So either efan isn’t coming on, or the mechanical it has on it isn’t up to the task. I don’t have any issue even in 110 degree heat in traffic. Check gmt400 forums, great guys and they have the different combos of fans and clutches figured out for improved cooling on these big boys. Hope that helps, and enjoyed the follow along… if I can ever get to 9-10 I can finally get out of town with it, at 4 mpg and a 33 gallon tank, I run out of gas before I get to the next town 😂

Dang man! 4mpg is crazy. I did end up wrapping the pump, throttle body and I have and MSD ignition system so that might help. We calculated MPGs on the way home and got 12.5 on the interstate. I hard wired the efan. Even when I kick it on once the truck gets to 220 it still won’t cool it. I’ll need to address this before Southeastern truck nationals next month

Bud I've been driving flatbed tow truck doing high volume towing and a lot of police rotation work for a long time, and I was right where you're at with the big truck for a long time, and I feel where you're coming from when every time you're in a parking lot full of people everyone runs over to say you need a lot of space to get around and things like that. They sure do seem nice, and I hate to break it to you, but after another couple years of getting used to that big dually, you're going to realize that it's not the truck. You probably won't have to stop and let your girlfriend get out and puke as often, either.
