Who are Steps of 2 Foreigners?
We are Adam (North American) and Bernardo (Brazilian) and we are husbands whose paths crossed back in 2016, when we both still lived in Brazil. Since the very beginning, we shared a common passion for travel and nature, which has only grown over the years and led us to this unexpected journey on KZbin filming these memories which has allowed us to get in touch with an amazing community that we’re beyond grateful for. “Go out and make memories” is our motto of living and a constant reminder for us that true happiness doesn’t come from the material wealth we accumulate, but from the memories we create and share with our loved ones throughout our existence. Guys… My partner and I are both now 67. In 1976 when we were 22, We took buses from San Francisco through Mexico all the way to Guatemala. We spent 3 months there in bliss. Mostly on Atitlan and in Antigua, but also Chichicastenango for an incredible weekend market. It’s wonderful to see you two tracing the same steps. We stayed on a coffee plantation on the outskirts of Panajachel for $10 week. We slept on pinestraw mattresses with horsehair pillows, candles for light, outhouses and water pumps rather than faucets for our water. We’ve been to Guatemala many many times since then, including last year. We named our business after a little Mayan girl we met while there who was so poor we felt we needed to help her whole family. Your sense of awe was ours exactly, which is why we’ve been back so many times! Reach back if you’d like!

Finally, a video from Bernardo's point of view. It was beautifully filmed, the scenery is breathtaking, and the narration is crisp and illuminating. We rarely hear Bernardo reveal so much of his inner feelings. Obviously, this turned out to be a "healing trip" for both of you. Adam looks like he's enjoying himself much more in the kitchen, and not letting problems get the best of him. I can definitely see the two of you returning to Guatemala sometime in the future, perhaps with a family of your own some day.

I would like to share a simple exercise I created to feel peace wherever I am. I shared it with my therapist who now shares it with her patients. In order to stop life and relax I simply stare at a clock and watch the seconds go by. I feel gratitude for each second I am alive and accept this gift of time and life. That's it. One can close their eyes and count seconds if its not too noisy, or stare at a clock that counts seconds. It helps to set a time limit to do this otherwise the mind starts to wonder when to stop, but that's not necessary. Each moment is a gift.

Oh my! Another beautiful video with visuals and sounds that elicit peace and joy (including , if not especially Adam’s snorts). Bernardo’s writing and narration was spot on. I loved the transitional scenes in the lake with the drone shots then Bernardo swimming under water. Scenery to die for, people to interact with and spiders to bring chills of fear.
