honestly seeing a video like this is kind of a relief, in a way. i don't think i can really vocalize anything that you haven't. i'd kind of lost interest because of unfortunate associations by the time the cancellation came around, so i wasn't too invested, but even still the whole savebrooklyn99 thing was exhausting at Best, and you really hit the nail on the head in this video.

I tried watching that show last year, but had to check out when they decided to make the only public defender on the show a complete POS. I have good friends who are public defenders, and so few people understand how vital their job is. PDs are on the front lines of defending our rights. Without them defending the rights of both the guilty and innocent, the law wouldn't matter, and cops would just arrest whoever they wanted because prosecutors typically charge everyone arrested with whatever they can. I also know a couple of decent prosecutors, too, but they get paid twice as much as PDs to do a fraction of the work for a job that really isn't nearly as important.

This was excellent! And you 100% nailed so many of the issues (media is not neutral, lack of diversity in writers rooms, and characters that are diverse in label but have no supporting traits are some particular favourites of mine). If you have any inclination to turn this into a series I would love to see more!!!

Great video, Nobbie. You made a lot of excellent points. I've always thought that, if you're a person of color, and you're not afraid when you see a cop, then you're a far braver person than me. 20 years ago, when I was out with Diane, we got pulled over. Two cops got out of the car, and approached with their guns drawn. I wasn't afraid, because I knew I hadn't done anything. But, if I were black, or latino, I would have been afraid, because being innocent isn't a guarantee that I'd survive the encounter. Not the way I assume it to be, because I'm white. I'd like to see more videos like this.

One of the reasons why I'm follow you is because of stuff like this, as a student of media I always have to find different viewpoints to my own and I find it's always great to find viewpoints from outside of your background (I'm a white cisgender man whose straight so yeah). I will still love the show but acknowledge faults and flaws because if I don't then I would be a god damn idiot and blind to the truth. What you present in this video made sense and certainly enlightened me to some it's more problematic elements. It reminds me of Malcolm in the Middle (another show I love) which has moments of what would essentially be child abuse. Generally I believe all media has flaws and the only way to get better media is to critique, deconstruct and analyse otherwise we'll keep repeating the same mistakes and going nowhere. Anyway a great Vlog and --//-- If you made this far thanks for reading, if I can recommend any TV it would be Killing Eve, I thought the show was ace but if you didn't I would happily watch a another 15 minute or so video on how it's bad, or problematic. Keep it up.
