you are so right about all of this. dai's romances look good on the tin but most of them are just (at best) sugary treats that don't stick with you past the sugar rush, meanwhile DA2s??? You can ruminate on those for DAYS ugh the BUILD UP to most of them!! if you go the friendship route with them every single romance is an excellent friends-to-lovers story and i just love that so so much. i just wish bioware let my FRIENDS be FRIENDS WITH EACH OTHER. pls stop being mean to merrill fenris. anders. aveline i'm begging you to stop calling isabela a slut. dao has the best dialogue options and is a good introduction to such a lore-heavy series (even if bioware ret-conned nearly everything afterwards smh) but it dont hold a candle to my girl da2.....she's too fire 😩😩

I romanced Merrill as fem Hawke and it was great. It's not as great narratively as Anders or Fenris but like. She's the smartest character in the game when it come to her stuff. Every risk she's taken has been calculated and the only reason she "failed" was because no one took her seriously. They only saw a naïve girl stumbling over her words. She did nothing wrong, Isabella was the only one who respected her, and Marethari was a dumbass idiot. So if you ever replay the game please romance her, she's great Oh also in my headcanon post-game Isabella, Merrill and fem Hawke are in a polycule together

Morgan Romances: Morgan is obviously trying to manipulate in higher Romance. But she caught feelings hard. Leliana Romances: the whole ark is you deal with her psychotic evil ex-girlfriend. And finding out she has a higher body count than you do at the start of the game in every sense of the word. And Leliana trying to be a better person.

I'm a year late on this video but EXACTLY! 1000% agree DA2 romances are the best! None of the other romances hit as much as Fenris, Isabela's, and Ander's ( Fenris is also looking really nice in the comics too lol. Here's to hoping he and Isabela show up in DA4) The age thing of some of the characters is something that continues to irk me, because there's only canon ages for a few of the characters i.e. those with established bdays. Like the theorized age for Merrill is 26 ish, but that would make her older than Hawke, even though most of the gang treats her like Carver/Bethany. Idk why the game insists on treating her like a kid lol. I ended up romancing Cullen when I was a teenager and loved it, but then played origins as a mage and realized omg he's kind of a incel? had a huge crush on Amell and continued to talk about her in DA2 despite blaming her for his sins or whatever. Now I cannot look at him the same way.

I agree with every word you said. My romances were Isabela and Josephine (havent played DA1) and i love both of those girls. I had a HUGe crush on Isabela from the very beggining when she bashed that guys head into the counter, love at first sight. And I remember everytime i finished a quest in DAI back to Haven i just went straight to see my wife Josie, but yeah there was so little content there, we were robbed. I was so bitter Cassandra and Aveline werent romanceable tho.

Ok, 30 seconds in and I have to comment. Don't blame the microphone. You were talking into the back of it. The blue light shows you which bit to talk into. Also, that brand of mic (I have one just like it, so I'm presuming it's an AT 2020) comes with a stand so you don't have to hold it in your hand like that. It's a great mic, and I hate to see someone saying they'll never use it again just because they were using it incorrectly.

I romanced Solas the first time I played Inquisition, it is one of my biggest regrets. (I was a teenager and I wanted the deep lore, I'm sorry, I despise him now) Second time around Inquisition I went with Josephine and I love her sooooo much, we needed more content. I never finished Origins, but yeah I had no interest in any of the options. I'll just play with my dog thank you. Never played 2, might have to now.

I also think DA2 has the best romances (and companions, and story) overall, but Morrigan is a strong contender for the best romance. She has so much character development through her romance in DAO, *and* you get a whole DLC to cap it off.

I felt a lot better about the Blackwall romance because you can slow burn it and there's an option to not sleep with him and he respects that decision but the romance still proceeds, so that weird sleeping with him under false pretense thing is out of the way at least. Zevran is still my favourite though.

Why everyone gotta disrespect Merrill like that? She's the first of the Dalish Warden's clan in Origins, you can talk to her in that game and she's even a temporary companion. She's definitely an adult, I don't understand why everyone wants to treat her like a child both in and out of the game. She's my second favorite DA2 romance and it's sad to see people constantly infantilizing her.

Oh god this video made me relive all my da experiences. To summarize my thoughts Leliana deserves to be shady she is the bisexual fantasy pope(papess?), The way da treats iron bull and the qunari is egregious and I could go off on a whole half an hour rant about the racism present in the writing of the qunari, and dragon age 2 is the best because every character is bisexual :3, also as a trans person since we had a game where everyone is bi including the main character we should have a game where everyone is trans including the main character but then again after how they wrote krem idk if id want that. (oh also i loved this video i died every time you edited in future you or brought up a bi flag)

hell yeah!! i agree with like, all of this! i gotta say i really don't understand why the writers handled merrill and sera...Like That. they both are written as people that none of the other characters take seriously, even though they have valid reasons for their actions, but we are expected to just not be interested in their motivations like, in a serious way. It's like the writers thought they needed to have this manic pixie dream girl that someone can just look at and go "haha isn't this woman being oblivious and naive, her opinions and feelings are so weird and silly"

Leliana appeals to a guy like me who likes a fem fatale with a soft side, especially for me. Morrigan is like the hard mode relationship if you could pull it off its great but too much can go wrong. Leliana is if you're not a boy anymore who still looking for a challenge with women, and just want someone who authentically loves and appreciates you. Sao gives straight dudes a hard choice tbh cuz both of them are great in their own ways. Da2 was eh for me. Isabella is like why, merril is the same. It's nice the idea of making isabella a better person but shes so trashy it's a hard swallow. Merril is too bumbling. Cassandra aged like wine for me I didn't like her to start cuz she was butch but shes a good woman at the core, shes what you want in a partner. Shes leliana but warrior archetype whereas leliana is rogue. not class, character archetype. Waiting to see the mage archetype equivilant rp see how it plays out. I think why Cassandra grew on me is I used to identify warrior now mage archetype, so my taste changes to fit a warrior. Josephine was nice just a classic romance. Sera was awesome I would romance her as a Male if possible. Shes what us overhinkers need is someone a bit nutty to distract us but good at heart. Solas doesn't count.

I tried to get into DA with the first and it just seemed too complex for its own sake. After that, I slept over the rest of DA for Mass Effect and after the ending for 3, I regret that now. But yeah, in the circles I was in, the most love was for DA2 because of the characters. Flawed as the writing was, I saw that there was actual care for the characters and how they interacted with each other. So, if I ever get back into DA, I'm gonna go with 2. Good video. Cassandra is the butch lesbian I’d hit, but I settled for Josie instead. However, I always romance Dorian in Inquisition. I haven’t played Origins much as I think the characters are a tad forgettable. However, finally someone who loves dragon age as much as I do if not more. I mean, ugh, Fenris is like the best. I may not find him attractive as I am a lesbian, but he has this backstory that just draws your heart. ......hate Solas

you really dont even have to play origins, i didn't before i played da2 lmao it's really just extra lore. but if you do play origins, and you're on PC, i highly HIGHLY recommend you get a mod that fast-tracks you through the ferelden circle, just trust me on this
