Not really, Russia never trusts Britain as they think we are up to something & when they get invaded they join up with Britain side. It's like a broken record if you ask me. Even Russia spent so many times preparing for war with Britain & yet it never happened. Them Russians would have been better of worrying about their neighbours more then what Britain was up to as we both got a worse deal for it.

Si vis pacem parabellum=If you want peace; prepare for war-Publius Vegetius Renatus. Whole reason ww1 & 2 occurred is the west thought it would be an easy victory in the 1st & the 2nd they called for peace but never showed arms to demand peace. Them Romans understood were they went wrong & near 2 millennia on our elders didn't learn & I'm doubtful the powers that be today have learnt. The lull in western war is an anomaly not out of common ground or morality but inability from the last 2 industrial wars that had vast material cost. The 3rd is on the Horizon as all sides again call for peace but never other a coarse in demand for peace with a show of force. Few to none charge pike formation with nothing in hand or worn. That is how you ensure peace at a standing order & not a whimpering plea.

@@arnijulian6241 it's obviously different now because of nukes. WW3 is an apocalypse scenario and must be avoided at all costs. This is why we try even if it means appearing 'weak' sometimes.

​@@dustopian Trying to avoid it will make it occur. Sun Tzu stated “Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak.” for not the reasons you think. If you want your foe to strike then appear weak. Appearing weak because you are pacifist will only come off as cowardice to a warmonger. What you & many don't understand is some people do not fear their own demise. Even myself as a stoic of sorts what comes to my mind: “Death does not concern us, because as long as we exist, death is not here & when it does come then we no longer exist”-Epicurus. A person that has already accepted their finality & does not let others concern them only has their legacy in mind. Putin for instance is nearing his final days having survived much he wishes to emulate Alexander I of Russia to cement his name in history. Mind myself as a stoic keep the cosmopolitan=universal citizen in mind & so I put the need of all before my wants for virtue along with reason. Most are not so reasonable as myself. The East are willing to lose all for what they value but are you? They drop the bomb the west will negotiate but then east will do it again & again until mutual destruction is assured or the wests surrenders then submits. Your owns demise is not an option in your mind. They perceive it as weakness though if it is or isn't that depends on the person ethos in my observation. Many in the west do not understand the east & likely never will. I never fit in neatly with any of them as I was raised by my Great grand elders from a different time. People are quick to mock those of the past & yet they had less wars then we do today. My elders recalled & told me much of their grand elders who did have peace in their time but to secure that peace had a price!

@@dustopian Even with nuclear weapons they are not game over. Infantry is needed to occupy territory & combined arms warfare is still needed to have supremacy. Yes WMD's are impressive but between to nuclear power it is basically as stale mate as either all sides don't use them or if used it's a matter of scrubbing which Britain is the only one with that technology. Britain is also the only power that doesn't rely on a 1st strike doctrine. The trident project allow the use of nukes even after our nation is no more as the ultimate deterrent in theory. In a way Britain is following ''Sun Tzu'' word for word as unlike the USA being loud the British pretend like we don't even have an arsenal of doom day weapons. We have nuclear capabilities that no other nation has & we are the fore front of biological warfare! Nukes are not be all rend all of dooms day weapons & even besides such other concerns exist for military inventory!
