It may not be relevant to this story but there’s an island about 300 miles off the south coast of India who claim sovereignty over it. However if anyone from the mainland or anywhere else for that matter try to visit the place the locals will kill them and that’s just their tough luck. There will be no investigations or arrests. They don’t want outsiders and the rest of the world gives them their space. I love this story because it’s got a tsunami in it and if I have anything like a recurring nightmare it’s of one of those natural monsters.

@@lazarusrasputin5888 Yep I think that's how I learned about this insane island in the first place. If they happen to see you land your boat they bash your head in right on the beach. What they do with the bodies afterward is anyone's guess since no one's survived to tell. For some even crazier reason the Indian Navy heavily patrols the strait which separates the place from the mainland. If an island of legal murderers exists then that fact is even more mysterious. I get the hint. I don't want to visit their island with its humidity and its big bugs and the hatchet inevitably buried in my skull.

Pretty good, but "It's a creature!" was the first thought I had with the mysterious "island" appearing. The leukocytes were an interesting idea, but the way they work outside the body with their miraculous burst of potency kinda made it feel lie the kind of thing you'd get from a bad D&D game, where the monster just gets more powerful for no in-story reason. Would have been much better without the epilogue.

Whew! Well this was certainly imaginative! Enjoyable, and I was able to listen to it from start to finish all in one sitting. Usually I prefer at least one survivor to make it, otherwise how does the story get told? Well I suppose it doesn’t matter in the wake of destruction left behind from this “Live island”. Definitely well written, as said by many other comments aside from myself, and as usually flawlessly told by our personal Dr. I could go on for far too long about what intricacies I like about the entire tale but I’ll keep this one shorter than usual. To the great Dr., you spoil us! I personally truly enjoy the really long ones, (that sounded bad) as I usually have plenty of free time to enjoy them! This was no exception, but what really and truly gets me is the amount of effort that you put into this all while not missing a beat! Basically I realize the amount of work that you put in for us and I for one, think it’s fantastic. Hats off to you sir! What a great origin story for a zombie apocalypse! Usually zombie stories focus on the outbreak and post apocalypse, but this one told the whole story leading up to it. This leaves a lot of potential for more building.. Will they nuke the whole island of Guam? Also, the temple of Thanatos, what was the deal with that? Was it just a coincidence or a random item, or was the temple built in inspiration from them? If so, what does that mean? You'd assume contact with these things results in the collapse of a civilization, they'd never have time to build a temple for them.. it's an interesting thing to think about.

Pretty good story, though it commits a couple of faux pas - most notably, in a past tense first person perspective narrative, it makes no sense for the _narrator_ to bite it at the end. Because, you know, he's implicitly narrating the story to someone. This is why it's important to think ahead and pick the right POV based on the story you're planning to tell. On that note, I didn't quite get how the dude got infected in the first place. It somewhat felt like the "bad ending" was forced since sorta came out of nowhere just as it seemed like the main character was going to pull through. In fact, aside from the soldiers, there didn't seem to be much of a plot-relevant reason for killing off the characters. I got the impression that the author was arbitrarily axing them for the sake of a "the monster wins" type ending. I always feel kinda annoyed when a story does that. Again, it _is_ a good story, but the above issues do rub me the wrong way.

Better than a regular /x/ ' I went into a forest and found a skinwalker.' The Atlantis idea is good, but I feel this story is too dragged out. Could use a shortening. The white blood cell would be better replaced with a creature living inside the big one and molting generally has the outer layer fall off, not sink in. Like a parasitic species inside a big monster, maybe even one that evolved some rudimentary intelligence, would be a better fit. The big red spikes also indicate more of a sea urchin than crab.

I just wanna point out that the ending is kinda funny, as Guam is huge military base with a massive arsenal. As the story tells these creatures go down rather quickly with a single shot to the head, I can't imagine this breakout being a threat lasting too long LOL.

I didn't know KZbin had audio books. This was actually my first here. Nice read Doc! :) Blue blooded animals are not unheard of. The Octopus family are all I believe blue and definitely copper based blood. Not sure about crustaceans but octopi are copper based for sure.
